"I stayed at Hotel Tampa Riverwalk for a business conference and was extremely disappointed. I arrived around 5 PM and found the check-in process very confusing. Although I received an email stating the pool was closed and renovations were underway, it did not explain the extent of the construction. I accidentally ended up on a floor full of drywall and construction materials while trying to find the lobby. After several attempts, I finally located check-in. My room on the 8th floor smelled like wet carpet as soon as I entered. The room was outdated and looked nothing like the photos online. The balcony appeared unsafe, and I was uncomfortable even stepping onto it. The dresser had a sticky substance running down the front, and there were gnats flying around the room. When I called the front desk, I was initially told there was no manager available. After insisting and waiting in the lobby for about 20 minutes, a staff member provided a zero-balance receipt and advised that the $569 hold on my card would be released. I was originally told there was nothing in writing they could provide and that I could simply leave. I understand renovations happen, but the current condition of this property is far beyond a minor inconvenience. The online photos do not accurately reflect reality, and this was nowhere near a four-star experience. I would not recommend this hotel, especially for business travelers."
