"The hotel is not only showing some obvious wear in both the rooms (furnishings) and public areas (corridors/lifts etc.) but particularly could have been improved by simply paying attention. Outside lawn bar areas/furniture are not even being wiped down and this is a highlight area for this hotel. Rooms are not made up in a timely manner 3:45 in the afternoon seems rather late for any room not to mention a suite you want to enjoy time in. Staff comments were less than helpful. "The room was very clean, modern and spacious. A little fridge was stocked and the usual tea and coffee were available. The gym is small but had everything that I wanted to use, the spa area was clean and everything worked. Reception and room service staff were professional, polite and friendly. I slept well, felt safe and genuinely enjoyed my stay. "

"Beautiful old building with spacious rooms but ambience and decor are stunted by poor management and maintenance. The bed frame was too big for the mattress, leaving a 1/2 foot gap all round the bed in which the meagre pillows often got lost. The mattress was too big for the bed linen. "The breakfast was good. Plenty of selection but I don't think all of it was cooked fresh. The bacon was very hard and not easy to cut. The toast was not as one would expect toast to be, it seemed as if it was bread that was put in a pan with oil and served. But nothing was too much trouble for the staff."
