"The standard double room was much smaller than expected, and the bed was two singles pushed together with a thin double topper, which made the bed very uncomfortable and lumpy. We told reception after the first night and they arranged for a better topper to be put on. If the standard double was this small then the small double must have been tiny. "Spacious, clean and comfortable room. Kettle and coffee machine with good supply of tea, coffee and fresh milk. Staff friendly and efficient. Excellent evening meal and breakfast. Lovely location for a walking break - we appreciated use of the pub car park before check-in/after check-out. Would stay here again in future."

"While the Hotel is in a super location it is in need of updating. There was no drawers in the room to put clothes in and room157 had water dripping from a light fitting in the bathroom. This has obviously happened for some time as there was staining on that part of the ceiling. I reported this to reception as we checked out. There was no lu brush and we had to ask for another toilet roll as only one half used was provided. The food was average. Not somewhere we would stay again"

"Place smelled horrible. Bedsheets were stained. Mold all over the shared bathroom. I found a pair of used underwear beneath my mattress. The place had not been vacuumed in ages. Very shocked Expedia would allow a place like this to remain on their website. "

"Our stay was a journey down memory lane for me. The hotel was still lovely and popular, the room was clean and albeit small as a twin, it was in keeping with such a historic building and the lady on the bar, who checked us in couldn’t be more welcoming. The kitchen even catered amazingly for a veggie and a vegan option breakfast. The hotel is centrally located for the beautiful village of Eyam’s history trail, tea rooms and local walks with good parking facilities. "
