"The place is a little rundown. Constructions around the house were so noisy. Bathroom looks dirty or old. Many small broken things that owner can easily fix to make the place more welcoming were not done. We were very close to abandoning the place and take the loss but there were no available options at the time. This is basically your last resort. "

While the room was spacious, the hotel could use some upkeep. The restaurant was not operating at the time of our stay. All in all, as a jumping off point for a Bromo tour it was fine. "Hello, This is not a small hotel as the pictures seem to show. This is basically a place renting rooms to people arriving in the evening for an early morning rise to see sunrise on Mt Bromo. I have never seen rooms and bathrooms so dirty, the bed sheet were dirty. There is no reception at all. We were obviously not expected on arrival. "The Grand Mercure was a wonderful hub to stay in Malang. It is not too far for Excursions to Mt. Bromo to pick you up and after an experience like that, you’ll want to stay somewhere that will pamper you back to balance. The cafe downstairs makes great options and while not very expansive, the room service dining had enough options for a variety of Indonesian and Western food to keep things fresh for a few days. The breakfast buffet had an extensive amount of options and you’re guaranteed to find something you like. Highly recommended. While we didn’t use the pool, it is family friendly with a fun for everyone slide and the building wrapping around it for coziness. "
"Rooms were very comfortable and clean, with a great view over the city of Malang. Staff was very friendly too and even though they had quite a few trainees on the roster when I stayed, they tried their best and always had a smile on their face, even though they were still learning and occasionally had to clarify a number of things with the senior staff. I had to set off very early in the morning but they were kind enough to prepare a packed breakfast (with delicious nasi goreng) for me. "
"I was on a business trip, my associate suggested this hotel and arranged for a private driver so i really didn't spend much time in the hotel. The staff was friendly, the place clean and the morning buffet is quite good. The room price is good, i used Expedia to book it. This property is next to a couple of malls which was good when my phone charger died, samsung is in the mall. One thing that is probably a problem for most people is the 4 am Muslim prayers blasting across the city. This happens 5 times per day. Otherwise i felt safe in the area."
