"I booked this for my husband as he was in the area for business purposes & from their photos and reviews it looked great and somewhere he could eat a decent meal. However, when he arrived there is no food served during the week. The hotel side was totally unmanned. Entry was via tapping in a code, which was fine, however the door handle needs replacing as kept.spinning round. His room was terrible.and nothing like the photos, it was poorly maintained, cup stained furniture, holes in the wall that had been filled but left unpainted, just a very poorly maintained room. To add to that as it was one of the hottest days of the year, the windows could not be opened, so sleep wise was terrible. The offering of breakfast was a jar of granola which was soft and due to how bad the room was my husband didn't feel he could even the breakfast. As he travels all over the UK & Scotland for business he has said unfortunately this was on his top 10 of the worst places he has stayed at."

"Rooms are comfortable and beds terrific. Young staff could use some hospitality training on how to be more friendly and gracious with guests, or at least a smile. Could have made an effort to be more accommodating- ie arrived just as dinner service ended. Could have offered snacks, nuts, something… Asked about GF breakfast options. Didn’t seem to know so I had to ask item by item… toast? Breakfast meats? Beans?"

"Booked a “luxury” room but wasn’t. Awkward access to room, standing on narrow stairs to open door. No wardrobe - just a hanging rack with 5 mis-matched hangers, no drawers, nowhere to put unpacked clothes. Only cupboard space full of maintenance equipment. Tap in the sink was loose and only connected to cold water - rectified by owner on complaint. Broken angle poise lamp - replaced on complaint. 24-hour security light outside window wasn’t blocked out by blind over window. Complete mismatch of furniture - bedside tables didn’t match, sofa underneath tv didn’t match upholstered pouffe. Altogether not a luxury environment. Really good to have free parking on the premises, and very close to Battle Abbey. Didn’t have breakfast at the hotel."

"Booked 2 rooms, neither of them had hot water so couldn't have a shower in the morning. When i brought this up to reception in the morning, they acted shocked and surprised. I then pointed out to them reviews from other guests complaining of the same thing, some as far back as 2 years ago and some very recent, so clearly not new information to them. Im sure they will reply to this review saying 'we apologise for the inconvenience, and we will endeavour to fix this problem'. How about fix it years ago when the first person complained? I cant be fun to keep pretending this is new to you and to keep giving refunds because of it "

"Advertised as an apartment with breakfast included. But in reality is a chalet bedroom and ensuite. Breakfast was 2 mini yogurts in the fridge, a couple of tiny croissants and cereals. Beverages are DIY. Check in is via a member of staff behind the bar in the pub. Unresponsive to phone calls with the number provided prior to the stay where I attempted to know if there was possibility of an earlier check-in but since not being able to get through I had to check-in at the standard 3pm. Interior of the chalet a bit dated."
