Nicer than 3* - great value for money, nice food and reasonable prices - didn’t bring my dogs this time but was noticeably dog friendly so I would bring them another time.
We arrived very early and we couldn’t check in early but could leave the car for free and explore.
Mum loved her £12 breakfast that was both hot and continental and could go back for fruit and toast and cereal as many times as you wanted - tea coffee and juices all good.
Comfy beds and great night sleep in classic twin on top floor - front view over the high street and nice garden / field with hills in the distance, very quiet at night and we both slept very well. Nice hot shower at 9am, even got good WiFi signal in the loft. Room spacious and looked recently updated with nice decor and modern shower room.
The lady in the restaurant worked particularly hard in the evening (didn’t get her name) and although alone and busy she kept food moving and bills paid and tables cleared in excellent time and even chased a customer up the high street with some lost property - dogs were not allowed in the restaurant which I overheard a customer complain about but the bar food was very good and plenty of dog friendly tables and seating options inside and out with patio heaters. In the restaurant you can also ask for the bar food menu so get to choose from both which was good - especially for me as there’s a lot I can’t eat and didn’t struggle from either menu.
I would definitely return, thank you
Lovely property in the heart of Betwys-y-Coed. Really easy walk to everything in the town and accessible trails nearby. Super friendly staff and great menu options both in the bar and at their on-site restaurant.
Beautiful location. Room size was fantastic. Because the room was so large a king size bed would have been perfect. The four poster bed is lovely to look at, but not very practical. My husband is 6ft 2 and found the length of the bed difficult, as his feet were unable to hang off the bed due to the bed frame. The restaurant did transfer a lot of noise until 10pm each night. Generally we had a really good stay and would recommend it.
Beautiful hotel in a perfect location within the village. Staff very friendly, hotel very clean. Hotel bars, communal areas very nice and updated, only thing to expect is bedroom and bathroom slightly dated, but a minor issue overall and all very clean with a comfy bed! Thank you, wonderful stay
We booked this hotel fairly last minute. We needed a family room with space for our two dogs and I’ll be honest we weren’t expecting too much but this hotel was absolutely perfect. Great sized room with everything we needed, comfortable beds, clean, brilliant location, lovely breakfast and helpful staff.
It’s not the ritz but it ticked all our boxes. We would 100% stay again and recommend.
Helpful staff and perfect central location with parking and EV charger. Faster Ev chargers available in B Ffestiniog a few miles away but good to have on site.
Really well appointed hotel. Reasonably good options in the restaurant but London prices. Great breakfast. Pleasant staff. Everyone was helpful and attentive
I had the pleasure to stay here at the Gwydyr Hotel as part of my 5 day motorcycling tour of Wales.
I was warmly welcomed at reception, after a very wet ride to the hotel.
My room was more than suitable for my needs and was clean.
I decided to eat at the hotel, which was the right decision to have made. The food was exceptionally presented and had bags of flavour.
The overall cost for my stay, food and drinks was expensive, but this was to be expected for an establishment as the Gwydyr Hotel.
We had a wonderful evening. We spent the evening outside having some drinks, dinner, and then had a great walk around town.
The hotel is perfectly located to enjoy this beautiful town.
Our room had been recently renovated and was very comfortable with a nice view.
In the morning we had a Welsh breakfast. Thank you for your hospitality!
Beautiful hotel in the heart of Betws-y-Coed! Super easy and walkable to major attractions in the small town and the bus stops are extremely convenient! No AC, but a fan was provided and it wasn’t too hot—thank goodness! Great bathroom and big room for 3 friends.
Betws-y-coed has been one of our favourite weekend trip locations for years. It was our first time in the Gwydyr and we really liked it! Really central location and good hotel facilities.
From the moment we arrived we were incredibly impressed by the enthusiasm of all the team. Nothing was too much trouble and to see the hotel so successful in what is a hugely challenging time for the hospitality industry we think is a testament to the service and facilities provided by the hotel. The refurbishment that the hotel has undergone has been done to a very high standard with great focus on detail and maintaining the grandeur of the building. All food served was of excellent quality with a great range of beers, spirits and wines etc at very competitive prices. Gwydyr will certainly be our first choice if we are in the area again and we will be passing details on to friends and family if they are looking for a venue. Good to know it is a dog friendly hotel as well.
Great location near the station for trains and buses, as well as a small selection of shops and food places in the village. Plenty of walks close by, and further afield by road are the countless mountains of Snowdonia. The staff in the bar also know how to pour a perfect pint of Guinness!
Lovely place to stay and looking at going back. Staff extremely helpful & welcoming.
If I had a complaint it'd have been about the finishing of building works BUT I'm aware that they needed to have this done out of season. Didn't really effect our stay
The staff was very nice. The bathroom wasnt clean. There was urine marks on the seat. The staff apologised and gave us free drinks. There was a lack of basic facilities like hair dryers and iron and considering it was quite expensive it wasnt worth the money.
We had to park in a public parking as the hotel parking was too small.
The hotel is to a good standard and i had a nice room with plenty of space. Only down side was it oberlooked the busy road and bright street lights beamed in at night. But swings and roundabouts!
The breakfast was huge and pretty tasty. The evening meals served in the hotel bar were also huge, no doubt to feed hillwalkers and other adventurers!
Overall a good stay thanks very much.
