"We've been staying at the Carmel Wayfarer for years now. I love how dog friendly it is, and I also love the location. It is just a bit away from the really busy part of town and it's a very nice walk downhill to the beach, weaving through the neighborhood and ending up at a path through the dunes that leads to a few flights of stairs down. It's harder going back up, of course, but I just love where it deposits you on the beach. The price is right and I love the upgrades they've made so it's no longer wall-to-wall carpet which gets kind of gross in a beach town. Love the Wayfarer! I can't afford it during the peak times, but find it affordable at other times."

"THis is a really sweet hotel. It's older so my ratings reflect that. That being said, my room was huge and had a small kitchen area with a microwave and fridge. There was a sitting area and large windows, so I drank coffee facing the ocean! The bathroom was also large and had pink tile. For an older hotel, it was clean and spacious. Make sure to request a room on a level that has access - there is no elevator. It's close to downtown and walking distance to many excellent restaurants and galleries. The staff is very helpful and nice."

"very friendly front desk staff when we checked in after 9 pm. our room had the most amazing view and huge balcony, which was a nice surprise. breakfast is ok, nothing special. the bagged eggs freak me out, so i just ate cereal. there were only 2 options for cereal."
