"Selected Wheatsheaf based on location travelling from Scotland to South Coast. We're told at reception that the room was up 2 flight of stairs but it would be worth it, Walking into room 12 our breath was taken away, it was definitely worth the climb. Dinner that evening and breakfast next morning we're excellent. Will definitely be back. Jim and Lorna"

"The room was clean and reasonably priced. Sadly I didn’t sleep well as the mattress wasn’t very comfortable - small for a double, and it felt like we were rolling together . Hong had kindly given us a room at the back of the house as I mentioned I am a light sleeper, but because it wasn’t the property I was expecting to stay in, it meant it was near to the main road which was quite noisy through most of the night on and off. "This hotel is located right next to the train station, and it was impossible to get a proper night’s sleep. The noise from passing trains and the station announcements continued until around midnight and started again at 5:00 a.m., making it extremely disturbing. The bathroom had no shampoo or soap provided, so we had to go to Tesco to buy our own toiletries. The room had a very unpleasant smell, and the towels looked like they had been used by the previous guest, which was...

"Convenient locatiin"

"The staff in general didn’t look at all happy working there. Not once did we hear a good morning or evening from the reception staff or others around the hotel. The restaurant was ok, the food itself wasn’t brilliant and the service was not what we had experiences on our previous visits to Wychwood Park Hotel. Sorry to say but with such a nice hotel the whole experience was well below par."

"We used to stay here many years back when visiting relatives in the area. Now it has turned into a Spa Resort, great for those who like and want to be pampered, no problems there, but we did find the restaurants evening menu is now very restricted for choice., plus there was always cold blasts of air, making it very uncomfortable to dine. Back in the day the then Ostler restaurant was far superior"
