"Breakfast and staff were great"

"Great location and this is my favorite Kansas City hotel but i didn’t get a shower cap because a hospitality kit was not provided. There wasn’t a coffee machine or kettle provided, though I asked twice at the reception. No mugs either. And room service was skipped for almost 2 days until I asked. We ran out of soap and toilet paper."

"We checked in around 6:00 pm went to room unpacked and went to leave and the door did not lock. Attempted to contact the front desk but the phone wasn’t working something about internet down but we had wifi? Went down to front desk she asked if we wanted to change rooms so we packed up and moved to another room that was not as “nice” as the first one. I use that word loosely. "This is a one-time grand hotel that has aged not-that-well. The outer facade is in desperate need of a makeover, or at least a paint job.. The hotel seems understaffed (I had to leave a message with room service) and the restaurant workers tried their best but seemed overwhelmed by the volume (and it wasn't even nearly at capacity). "Excellent place to stay. Right in the heart of the Country Club area of KC. We walked to the shops and restaurants. Love that they had coffee & tea any time and some decent breakfast treats that I wasn't expecting e.g. yogurt, muffins, etc. The grounds were amazing and the room (we had a balcony) was fantastic. Super easy email check-in. Definitely recommend staying here if you need a place close to the plaza & museums. Can't wait to come back on our next road trip."

"The first room did not appear to be completly clean and was not in great shape as the floor was damaged, the deadbolt was stuck open so the door wouldn't shut, and it needed a fresh coat of paint etc. I alerted the staff and was immediately moved to a room on the second level that was the same room but in much better shape. "The A/C worked well and was quiet. The beds are very uncomfortable. Our toilet lever didn't work. We unpacked and pulled out the couch bed, got all situated before we discovered the toilet. Since it was a Sunday, there was no maintenance available to fix it. The only remedy was to change rooms, which they offered. But, with 3 small kids and already all unpacked and one kid was asleep on the bed, we stayed. Had to take off the top of the back of the stool and put out hand in the water to manually...
