"We stayed in one of the cottages which although a bit dated offer a lot of space and character. The room itself was spotless and comfortable with everything you could possibly need. Loftsome bridge although off a main road for convenience is lovely and quite due to it being a good distant back from it, so you get the best of both worlds a good nights sleep and connectivity to all the local attractions with York not being too far away. "Room was delightful,spacious, clean and had great tea making facilities. Staff were welcoming and happy to chat. We loved the Halls historic features which were highlighted in Christmas decor making it very special. We enjoyed a walk around the gardens in the morning before heading off a short distance into York. Fabulous stay and will be back again! Many thanks"

"Quick check in, in the room with in 5 minutes. Room was spotless and comfy. Nice to have a sofa to sit on instead of the usual one chair and the other sat on the bed during down time. Breakfast had a great variety, two notes though. Coffee and my tastes was pants and if you want to try and get a waffle then get down a few hours early as you have no chance with the kids queuing up for an age. Maybe another waffle machine would help. "

Great neighborhood, easy walk to the city center, easy for Uber rides, and some phenomenal restaurants only steps away: Chinese noodle soups, coffee/bakeries, and the Rose and Crown tavern, which has the best meat pies, Sunday roast and sticky toffee pudding ive had yet in England. Highly recommend this hotel."

"Beautiful hotel, very good customer service. Only downside was the breakfast. We were charged £17 per person for a pretty lacklustre offering. My husband requested pancakes which were on the menu for an additional £2.50, so we were expecting a spectacular stack as a result; what he got was a couple of shop bought small pancakes to go with a very dry sausage and one rasher of bacon. Given that everything else was top-notch in the hotel, we feel they should perhaps review their breakfast and...

"The wheatlands is old fashioned in a good way. Courteous and efficient staff, excellent breakfast and nice rooms which could do with updating but are fine and functional. "

"Was disappointed to find that there was no available gym in the hotel, even though it is advertised as such. The sofa bed in the room was broken, as was the air-conditioning. Staff attempted to fix it but didn’t make a difference. When we visited, there was a pile of mattresses sitting in the lobby. Surely there’s a better way to manage this. We shared our complaints with staff at the hotel but they showed little interest so I hope management will take note "
