Hotel Riu Palace Paradise Island - Adults Only - All Inclusive

8/10 Good
"The food was great. We never felt inclined to try one of the specialty restaurants because the buffet items were all very good and always had a marvelous selection. The pools were nice and the ocean water was the clearest I've ever seen around the world. The beach was pretty good. Very little, to none, daily sargassum seaweed when we were there (early September). Our first room had a broken sink drain pipe or something because water seeped out of the wall between the bathroom and bedroom. We laid two bath towels down, and in the morning they were sopped and the puddle of water extended all the way to halfway under the bed. The next day they switched us to another room in the same category. The second room was ok other than they had to reset the HVAC to get the thermostat to work again. The bed was missing a foundation leg and sagged along one edge. They never came to fix it. I had to "fix" it myself by shimming it up with one of the nightstand drawers. They call most of their rooms ocean view, but most people would consider them partial ocean view, because you have to look sideways towards the ocean. The building is a rectangle. The end rooms (corners of the building and a single stack of rooms on the flat short end) are the only true ocean views. They call them ocean front. Consider that when booking. Their room nomenclature is not clear at all."

"Two restaurants that were stated online to be open : Sip Sip and coco drillo were not open when we arrived. The toilet was not cleaned after our first night. The front desk person Beyoncé was great when we arrived and when we departed. Very professional and very pleasant and always had a great smile to deal with. All the employees should be like her!!!!"
