We stayed at Espoir Misawa for four nights. The rooms were clean and comfortable, albeit slightly dated. The ski-in / ski-out feature was also a huge plus, and the dinner course menu was excellent. The highlight of our stay was the warm hospitality we received by Misawa-san and the team, which made the stay an unforgettable one.

Lovely warm pension with great service and food!!!
This pension in a ski in ski out near bottom of Tsugaike kogen ski resort so I gave 10 out of 10 on location and their dinner and breakfast buffet were excellent!! Also a 10 out of 10 on service as the owner of pension picked us up and dropped us off the bus station, even gave us a ride to ski rental and brought our shoes back. I lost my Mobile phone battery charger on the slope and they helped me to call and got back from lost and found! I am very impressed with their personal warm service. This is what commercial hotel cannot offer. Only drawback is the place is not in new condition and decor is a bit like back to 80/90s and there were beetle bugs coming into our room a couple nights so not a place for insect phobia like us. I still think this hotel and the service is very good for the price overall! Well done!!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our six nights at Espoir Misawa. I have rated it as 10. It is a three-star hotel in rural Japan but Aya and her staff did such a fabulous job in making us feel at home that for what it is how could I say it did not measure up. Aya is a bubbly energetic welcoming host having a great sense of fun on the go from before breakfast until well past dinner and it was not surprising that she had assembled a great crew for the winter. The dining room presents a wide range of Japanese and western options in its breakfast buffet that one is spoiled for choice, made all the better by being situated right on the slopes. Dinners were good too so much so we ate in for the six nights and the chef, who spoke very good English with a great sense of humour, would explain what was being served for us westerners. It was a very relaxed environment and I understood why a couple of guys on solo ski vacations appreciated it. In between breakfast and dinner there is a very nice lounge area in which to relax and have a drink or coffee etc. There is a laundry nook near the communal bath rooms with a washing machine, no charge (except detergent if needed), and it may have been one which also acted as a dryer. This was a true ski-in / ski-out hotel where we stepped from the slopes into the ski storage / boot locker room, through an automatically opening door. A great vacation spot.
I stayed at the western hotel room with a private bath for six nights at the end of January. I had a wonderful time. The hotel is a ski-in-ski-out hotel, and breakfast was Japanese and delicious. The slope is at the back of the hotel, and the chairlift and gondola are a couple of hundred yards away. The shuttle bus stop to other resorts is at the bottom of the gondola. The Wi-Fi worked great. I had Skype video calls every day and had not experienced any issues. The owner arranged to drop me off at the bus stop, and I appreciated it. If you’re a beginner, you can rent everything including clothing from the hotel. There is no elevator in the hotel, but it’s not a problem for me. The town doesn’t have ATMs at all. Please get enough cash before the trip. I highly recommend it. I’ll be back for sure.
