"We stopped here on a whim as we were driving down the coast and couldn't have been more pleased. It is a beautiful property and well situated for exploration of Monterey and the surrounding area, both on foot and by car. The staff was absolutely lovey and the evening happy hour and breakfast were first class. We will definitely stay again!"

"The property was perfect. Clean, well maintained and the staff was kind and always ready to help. The only thing we had to watch the charges on our bill. For some reason they were charging an extra $10 a day for Valet parking. They were apologetic and fixed the problem daily."

"Parking, staff, breakfast and room was good. I did not know that there was no air conditioning but it gets colder at night. Upstairs room was very noisy. We could hear all their footsteps and luggage rolling the floor until 11 pm. It was hard to sleep. Close enough to the aquarium."

"This is a nice hotel with great views (ocean view side). I took off 1 star due mainly to the breakfast being a little disappointing. The pastries were small and seemed like the plastic wrapped kind you might get at a convenience store, and overall the options were pretty limited."

"Had a wonderful stay. I requested an upper floor room with ocean view and I wasn’t disappointed. John and Carol at front desk were always helpful and friendly. Room was clean, location within walking distance to aquarium and cannery row. Short drive to Carmel. Only issues were cable would go out sometimes and kids yelling and running around in courtyard. Luckily that stopped at 830. Overall was a great stay. "

"Don’t know how we missed this spot! We have been coming to Pacific Grove for over 40 years. This is our first time at Pacific Gardens Inn! We have literally stayed at all of the other accommodations around them. Well we have missed out! What a gem! "Overall my stay was wonderful. The hotel is a little run down but it has a charming quaintness that I loved about it. We stayed during the off season for the monarchs so we didn't get to see why butterflies but I'm sure that in prime season I would have given 5 stars. If you like a cottagey quaint vibe I recommend staying here."
