"We left after only one night because the bugs in the room were so bad we got eaten alive. Holes in the screens allowed large beetles into the room and the biting insects were so bad I couldn’t read on my tablet because it attracted the biting insects and my hands the next day were swollen with insect bites. No mosquito nets or fans were in the room to help so we suffered all night and were horribly bit up by the morning. In addition the room door did not stay adequately closed and we had to lodge a sunscreen tube into the crack to stop it from banging all night long. The towels and blankets were frayed and dingy, making me think some of our bites were bed bugs. we did not use the shower because it was so filthy. When we approached the owner about the bugs he was beyond rude, attempted to gaslight us into making it our problem and we received no refund for the additional days we couldn’t stay there. The bad food, and hard beds are hardly worth mentioning compared to the rest of the unpleasantness that was our experience here. I have traveled the world and this was by far my worst hotel experience. "

"My family of 4 spent 2 nights at the Ficus Hotel / Sunset suites. The property of the hotel is absolutely gorgeous. It is exceptionally well cared for. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were greeted immediately with drinks provided to all 4 of us. While we checked in our bags were brought to our room. The rooms were exceptionally clean and spacious. The breakfast was excellent with a diverse selection. We explored all the of the trails within the region seeing diverse wildlife, including a coati and an a mother and baby agouti. The location was great, close to the shopping and food which included a walk through the trails. We would definitely stay here again and recommended."

"Incroyable site ! C’était comme entrée dans le site de Jurassic Park. Une vrai immersion dans la nature. Les jardins étaient sublimes en plus d’offrir l’accès à un petit réseau de randonnée au pied de notre Cabañas. Celle-ci était parfaite pour notre petite famille de 3 avec notre garçon de 6 ans. Nous avions beaucoup d’espace dans notre chalet rustique supérieur. Nous y sommes demeurés pour 3 nuits et le personnel était extrêmement disponible et accueillant. Grâce aux excellentes recommandations de l’équipe nous avons fait de magnifiques randonnées et une marche de nuit privée loin des foules et des touristes. Excellent choix pour se loger lors de votre séjour à Monteverde !"

"This property was good for the price. It’s clean and comfortable. The property is dated but the owners really make this property a very nice stay. They are very accommodating and also helped with booking our tram reservation and provided recommendations for local eateries. We would stay again. Keep I mind if you have difficulty with stairs ask for the bottom floor rooms. Pura vida"
