South Yarra’s major commercial strips can be found along its two arterial roads, Chapel Street and Toorak Road. If you want to see some of South Yarra’s architectural treasures, go on a stroll around the leafy residential streets. You’ll see stunning art-deco apartment complexes and splendid Victorian-era mansions. Como House is a historic mansion that is open to the public.

Relax amid the greenery of the Yarra River, which borders South Yarra to the north. The riverside parkland is a great spot to stretch out on the grass and watch rowboats cruising past. From here, you can also join up with the Capital City Trail. This walkway and bicycle track loops around Melbourne’s inner-city suburbs. To the west of South Yarra, you’ll find the spacious greenery of Fawkner Park.

Be sure to check out the neighbouring suburb of Prahran, which features the historic Prahran Market and more excellent shopping.

South Yarra is located 4 kilometres (2.5 miles) southeast of Melbourne’s central business district. It is easily accessible by car, train, tram and bus.
