Central location

Basic room overlooking Sol square. Ideal location but the noise from the square was noticeable especially on Friday and Saturday night. The staff were helpful but breakfast was very basic. Room was clean. Not very gay !!

tres bon accueil.la dame qui m'a recu parlait francais, anglais, espagnol .Elle m'a bien tout expliqué sur l hotel (petit dejeuner horaires etc...)mais aussi sur les choses a faire et a voir autour.personnel souriant et gentil dans l'ensemble.L-hotel en lui meme est un peu viellot mais ça va(douche lavabo etc)mais propre.le petit dejeuner est moyen.il pourrait etre plus complet(pas de fruits).hotel tres bien situé(place puerta del sol tres frequenté pas loin de tous et metro a coté)mais tres bruyant surtout le week end.si vous rechercher du calme à eviter.Acces pas trop bien indiqué .Il faut trouver la porte d'entrée.voila.Bien dans l'ensemble.bon rapport qualité prix pour moi.

Various delights on the door steps

we used to rent a car during our yearly tour of Europe. So, it's rather essential to get a hotel further away from the city center for parking reason. We were glad not to rent a car this year and get the hotel right in the heart of Madrid, and Gay Hostal Puerta del sol served us perfectly in this aspect. It was a very splendid vacation for us.

Devo dire che al momento della prenotazione online tramite hotels.com, non era indicata la dicitura "gay", me ne sono accorto solo all'arrivo della email con la conferma a pagamento già avvenuto. Ho chiamato hotels.com, ed ho avuto conferma che il gay hostal puerta del sol non è esclusivamente per coppie gay, ma accetta anche coppie etero. Dunque nessun problema. Sarebbe però opportuno indicarlo sul sito, a scanso di equivoci perchè da qualche parte è indicato ma in altre no. Premesso ciò, l'hotel è situato in un posto strategico, che consente di visitare la città agevolmente e spostarsi in ogni direzione sia a piedi che in metro o bus. L'hotel è modesto ma pulito, ciò che lascia a desiderare è la colazione scarsa in quantità e qualità. Il 90% del personale è gentile ma non tutto. Pur non essendo particolarmente economico, ci si può alloggiare accontentandosi, diciamo che si paga la location.

NOT THE BEST.

The location was excellent. It was in the center of Madrid and very easy to get to all of the exighting sights and close to lovely resturants and bars. The two gentleman who ran the hotel were very helpful very kind and made me feel welcome however the lady that helped run the hotel was extremely unkind very cold and made me feel so uncomfortable to even leave my room. The service at the breakfast area was for me the worst part of my stay. The food was just toast and cheese and cornflakes this is something I an do at home and the stuff who ran the breakfast area were very very rude. I was yelled at just because accidently I walked into the kitchen rather then the siiting area. I was spoken to with such disrespect and i felt so uncomfortable to eat there. All I had was bread and left I decided not to eat there again and I found lovely cafes on the srreet instead. I may have had bad expiriances with some of the stuff but the two men who ran the place were very nice very kind and welcomimg. The room was very clean although had alot of dents and cracks on the ceiling the walls and bathroom but it was still clean the bed was nice but needed another blanket. The air-conditioner worked excellenty and was very comfortable. The balcony was very small but ok to stand for abit. Would I stay here again? Taking all the good and bad of this place my answer would be No I felt alittle cheated in the place and so will not be staying there again.

godt beliggende hotel

Fantastisk beliggende hotel. Venlig betjening. Egne nøgler til gadedør, reception og værelse. Elevator. Mulighed for værelse med terrasse og med udsigt over Puerta del Sol. Morgenmad meget enkel, men der er hvad man kan ønske sig.

Perfetto!

Eccellente posizione che permette di visitare il centro della città anche a piedi. Massima libertà di movimento senza alcun orario da rispettare. Unico neo l'assenza del bagno in camera che tuttavia non ha creato particolari disagi.Buono lo standard della colazione inclusa. Ci torneremmo molto volentieri. Comunque ottimo il rapporto qualità/prezzo/posizione. Da non tralasciare la cordialità della signora (proprietaria ?) alla reception.

I will be back!

Really enjoyed the amazing location this hostel. The old saying of you get what you pay for did apply here. The bed was really just a futon on a plywood. VERY little space to move around in the bathroom. Was I impressed? Not really. Will I stay here again? Heck yeah I will! I was able to enjoy the city as I was right there in the middle of everything!

fantastic location

very simple hostal. gay friendly at best. everyone stayed there except children. breakfast was very basic yet hit the spot to have something to eat in the morning. staff was very helpful. mixture of guest of every language, size, shape and color. metro and renfe at your doorstep. easy access to everything.i mean everything.

Das einzig positive ist die serbische Reinigungskraft. Die Leitung ist absolut unfreundlich. Die Zimmer sind sehr sehr bescheiden. Der Preis ist noch immer zu hoch für das gebotene. Und vor allem: Mit Gay Hostel hat das ganz überhaupt nichts zu tun. Keine Gays und auch kein entsprechendes Ambiente. Absolut nicht zu empfehlen.

In center town, great deal

Friendly, no stairs, very well located. Clean, quiet. Air conditioning. Fair breakfast included, same 7 days. Cafee available in breakfast room all day. Free and fast wireless in room. Outside restroom but near, clean. Warm water. Had to hold shower head in my hand - not easy for my bad legs. Horrible bed, very small but adequate room. They gave me two more pillows as asked They brought an armchair as I asked. In all, very happy with my choice.

Best leuk Hostel.

Heel gehorig . Dit was vooral in de nacht. Een groep spanjaarden maakte zo veel herrie . Ik heb er melding van gedaan bij de receptie . Die hebben er wel iets van gezegd maar het was toen nog niet opgelost. En een schoonmaakster ging in de nacht een kamer schoonmaken ook niet echt prettig . Ontbijt was wel lekker.en gezellig in het Hostel.

Good location and inexpensive, but noisy.

My single room was basic, comfortable and clean - and very inexpensive. The shared bathrooms were adequate. The location was very convenient: the hotel located in the centre of Madrid. Unfortunately, on two of the four nights that I stayed, I was frequently awoken by the noise made by other guests. Whilst the hotel management is not responsible for who stays at the hotel, the inexpensive cost of the rooms did seem to attract a younger clientele who came back very late and very noisily. A combination of thin walls; no damp absorbing surfaces (e.g. carpets) and some guests' propensities for slamming doors closed rather than turning the door handle; for talking very loudly early in the morning with their doors open, and for listening to television very loudly; resulted in a far from peaceful environment for sleeping!
