It’s really a 0 star hotel, but unfortunately it’s not an option. We had a deeply disappointing experience with this hotel and feel others should be aware before booking.
My daughter and I reserved a stay in Madrid through Expedia well in advance. Before our travel date, my daughter was involved in an and severely injured her ankle, making travel medically impossible. This was an unexpected and fully documented medical emergency.
We immediately contacted Expedia, explained the situation, and provided official doctor’s letters confirming that my daughter could not travel. Expedia reached out to the hotel on our behalf to request accommodation.
To be clear, we did NOT ask for a refund. All we requested was a future credit or the ability to reschedule, similar to what the airline compassionately allowed under the circumstances.
Despite advance notice and clear medical documentation, the hotel refused to offer a refund, a future credit, or any form of flexibility. There was no empathy or understanding shown whatsoever, and we were left losing the full amount we paid.
This was not a cancellation of convenience — it was a legitimate medical emergency. The airline handled the situation with professionalism and compassion. Unfortunately, this hotel did not.
Travelers should be aware that if something unexpected happens, this hotel shows no flexibility or humanity, even when medical proof is provided.
