Great location- British Museum to the left Oxford St to the right. Ok as a bed for the night but hotel probably hasnt had a facelift since 1965. Tv didnt work, turn on taps in the sink and watch water trickle out. Basic is as basic found.

The room was terrible, water stains on the walls and ceiling, the shower was dirty with what looked like black mould around the shower basin, the curtains were staimed and dirty and it was only held on curtain rail by about 3 hooks. Bed wasnt comfortable you could feel the springs through the mattress.

I’d stayed in this hotel before & found it ol, hence why I booked again. I’m not sure if management had changed or what but this time was very different. Firstly there was a note on the door to call which needed up being the wrong number. I then had to pay to store my luggage which wasn’t mentioned when booking & wasn’t something I had to do last time. Then my room had a huge crack in the window & the carpet had quite a few stains. I was able to move rooms to the top floor which was ok. Still lots of marks on the walls & the windows are very thin causing a lot of street noise to come through. Also, a group came running up the stairs waking me up at 1am & then continued for a while to run & bang in each others doors. They then were very loud when leaving again at 5am. I know this isn’t the staffs fault but you’d think people might be more respectful during late hours of then night when coming & going. The location is very good though & that was the main reason from my stay.

Staff was very friendly and helpful but hotel is dirty , toilets were not flushing, light switch was missing....I know its a cheap hotel and I didn't expect any miracles but I expected atleast a clean room.

First the hotel was closed. When they finally answered one of the phone calls (forcing me to spend for roaming charges because US phone companies nickel and dime you) they said they moved me to another hotel [so this is a review of THANET HOTEL but I assume it's much the same]. At first he couldn't even tell me the address ('Just put it in google maps') but finally I guess he looked it up and it was a few streets away. When I pay for a central London hotel, I am paying for location. I expect a spartan experience in my price bracket but CLEAN is non-negotiable and this was not clean. Seedy edging onto disrepair -- holes in the tile floors (tile floors! thank goodness it was mostly deserted because every sound reverberated; on my last night it sounded like Godzilla had the room above me). The WiFi -- another essential at this point -- went out and was not restored by the time I left. The staff seemed confused and completely new to the hotel business. Do not recommend.

The building is unarguably tired and has fallen into a state of disrepair. We stayed in a basement room. The room was dirty and largely damaged. Holes in the wall, a dented radiator that didn’t heat the room at all, a wardrobe door that was broken in multiple places and had lost the ability to slide close, ceiling panels broken and lifted, and a bathroom with no heating, no hot water and minimal water pressure. I don’t usually mind staying in budget rooms where facilities are lacking but this was an unbearable stay, thankfully for just one night. The lack of a kettle and fridge was subideal. We were provided with a television, but being in a basement room meant that it wasn’t able to pick up any channels, rendering it futile. I would absolutely avoid staying here at all costs.
The wiring in the room was questionable at best and the sockets available were nowhere near the bed. You get to choose whether to charge your phone and risk freezing to death without the use of the radiator.
Hole in the wall. Loved the attempted repair with what appeared to be paper and nails?
Cracks in the wall next to the only mirror provided. Awful trying to get ready in here for an event the same evening.

立地の良さに全振りしたホテル 大英博物館の隣にありバスも地下鉄駅も近くて移動が便利だった 内装はかなり古めでホテルらしさよりも学生寮やホームステイをしている気持ちになった 他のレビューに書いているほど滞在は悪くなかった 理念やタオルは清潔だったし Wi-Fiは比較的安定していたし 部屋も暖房機能や電源などホテルとして滞在する最低限のものはある 気をつけないといけないのはチェックインとアウト前後の荷物預かりが有料であること トイレバスは男女問わずシェアなのでそこに抵抗なければ大丈夫 壁が薄めなのでドライヤーする時ちょっと気を遣った 階段の隣の部屋だと足音が結構聞こえるので気になる人は対策した方がいい

Didn't even make it to this hotel. Was told "issue with room I send you to my better hotel". I dread to think what this one was like based off the "better!!" Missing carpet, small tv with no remote, 1 out of 3 beds broken, stained bedding, 1 light not working, the list goes on and on....

Staff were helpful, but room was very basic. It was too warm, the beds weren't comfy, the TV had neither any input connected nor a remote control, the door instructions said to "Dial 0 in an emergency" but there was no phone to do so. The toilet and shower rooms were separate rooms down the corridor and shared with other rooms. Toilet room didn't have a sink, but room did, so you'd go to the toilet and then come back to your bedroom to wash your hands. There were only one double plug socket in our triple-bed room, and it was not near any of the beds. Hotel had WiFi but we were on the top floor and the WiFi didn't reach that far (not that we were given the password for it anyway). My phone got pretty poor reception inside the room, as well, so once inside the room we were kind of out of touch with the world. One of the panes of glass in the window was cracked. Think of this as more of a hostel than a hotel, and you might be alright. Location was decent (5 mins from British Museum). Staff were friendly and helpful (e.g. lent us an umbrella to go wandering). We paid 105 pounds for one night (a Saturday in December 2025) for the basic 'twin' room that was actually a triple room. Oh, and when we arrived at 3.05pm (check-in time was supposed to be 3pm) the room wasn't ready, so we went away and came back around 4.40pm and the room STILL wasn't ready, leaving us to wait in Reception until it was finally done. Gets a second star for the location and helpful staff.
