"We arrived on a late Saturday evening flight, ready to go to sleep. The plug on the wash hand basin did not work so the basin would not drain. Staff were very concerned and apologetic, but could not call a maintenance person until Monday morning (we were only staying 1 night) and couldn’t offer a change of room as the hotel was fully booked. A very disappointing experience and the weekend price was poor value for money. I expect better from HIE."

"Lovely hotel, well situated. Good breakfast, felt a little rushed when bringing out the hot choice (I’d only just got myself some cereal)
We ate at the restaurant in the evening, good food, substantial portions, average price for the area.
Nice swimming pool, very quiet first thing in the morning. Helpful, friendly staff, we spoke to the cleaners each day & reception staff, all very cheerful & pleasant.
I’ve already recommended the hotel & would return ourselves."

"The hotel is in a lovely building, but the decor in our room was odd and dated - it needed a bit of tlc and updating in our opinion. Lovely views of the city and beyond. We wish the blinds/curtains had been black out, as it got quite light in the morning. The big light in our room flickered a lot, so we couldn’t use it. Free parking was great. The room was cleaned each day and had basic amenities - kettle with tea and coffee, ironing board and a safe in the wardrobe."

"Beautiful gardens surround what clearly was a stunning manor house in its day. Met at reception by a cheerful helpful lass who soon had us booked in.
Room was very dated and tired and desperately needed a full refresh. A questionable mark on the bed valance caused concern.
The bath plug spun wildly and wouldn't seal meaning a bath was out the question. Saying that there was no shortage of hot water for a shower.
We slept well enough and beds were comfortable.

"The staff were absolutely amazing! I couldn’t say one negative thing about them. Very helpful giving directions etc unfortunately we had issues with the cleanliness of our room and had to change. One room had what appeared to be blood on the wall. Very disappointed as this hotel is supposed to be a 4 star."
