"The staff were all very good but at times a little pushed to see to everything. Our room was roomy but not particularly clean, cobwebs on windows, dirt and dusty skirting and all areas upon high had a good layer of dust. One bulb out at bedside and marks on wall and skirting that could be wiped off. Bed linen and towels were clean and soft. Shower and sink clean but toilet was not!!! Passage way to and from dining room smelt of cooking grease all the time that would suggest extractor filters...

"The hotel was dated but very clean, but had everything you would need for a stay. Breakfast and Dinner had plenty of choice. Staff were very attentive."

"Good hotel and comfortable bed. Had cancel the second night as the hotel was closed. Access for an 81 year old was very difficult. Lots of stairs to manage. The very cold weather made it even more difficult. The manager was very good and helpful. We hope to get a refund for the second night. The location was excellent and the pub was very quirky and quite special. "

"We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Chestnut Tree. Lisa, the host was the main reason, she is a great communicator which is important when booking. She was so very helpful with local information and incredibly kind. Our room was beautiful and the amenities in the bathroom delightful. The area is beautiful but with only one night, we didn’t get the change to do much exploring. Next time. Thank you Lisa for a wonderful stay."

"the room was not cleaned properly with chip containers and dirty glass under our bed- the coffee machine was not cleaned and full of mold in the water holder,and when brought to staff attention it was not addressed properly said chip containers still under bed and they just rinsed out the coffee maker and did not swap it out for full cleaning--the staff was cold mostly and not very helpful- the breakfast was nice but the staff was looking over you and removing plates before you were done we...

"Overall we were happy with the accommodation but concerned when the alarm went off while no staff were on site it was disturbing to get an automated response when dialing the out of hours contact number offering to put me thru to reservations or the restaurant. Was on a call to emergency services when someone appeared to say an alarm had been tripped in the cellar and issue resolved . I mentioned the out of hours contact number didn’t get me to a human response was told it connects to them...

"Too many notes telling you not to scratch things. It was nothing like as described on website. Spoon holding the window fastener, other windows held together with duck tape. . Felt damp in there so needed heat. Bedding wasn’t Egyptian cotton, bottom sheet was pea green. Tap just dribbled water out of wash basin. Lane and track down to property was terrible, full of holes. We didn’t stay for breakfast or to sleep there."

"The staff was kind and welcoming. The rooms are not air conditioned and with the windows open, and the drapes open to let the air in, you do hear road noise and get early morning light. I was not able to sleep much because of the noise and light. Convenient airport shuttle for 15 pounds."

"Reception was excellent. Grounds/estate amazing, miles of walking and an historic church with a 900 or so old Yew. It is worth reading the history of the place, layers and layers of it. They take beautiful care of the property. I had a beautiful room with a beautiful view right out my doors and a little patio.
