Volcano Forest Inn

"From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed. The room was great and spacious. It does get cold at night, but there is a portable heater in the room. The staff was literally a text away. I didn't want for anything. John was very pleasant and a joy to talk to. I will definitely put this on my hotels to stay at again."

"We were offered reusable water bottle that we did use and take with us, the restaurant /bar closed too early for us to get back for a nightcap after dinner in town so we didn't use our "free drink coupons" but nice touch. great view from our balcony, check in staff/front desk/bell person all helpful. the property seems a bit "worn" but oh, those views.....easy parking for our rental car."

"Our room was awesome with an easy to use fireplace, a lovely view from our lanai. my husband temporarily missed having a tv but the fireplace chat and drink that replaced the tv time/chill time was a great! Bed was comfy, shower and bath well appointed. Small refrig to keep beverages and we had a great dinner at the on-site restaurant, If only we could have stayed longer!"

"Food at the restaurant was very good! Room was in need of a redo(bathroom). One of The elevators was down for the first 2 days of are stay, but we still enjoyed are stay."
Hilo Reeds Bay Hotel

"This is an older hotel, no a/c or elevator, still uses keys, looks beat down from the hallway. Nice clean pool and direct access to some lava rock tide pools. TBH the view of the bay and the sound of the waves made it worth it- but I’d sleep in my car for that sound! Microwave and fridge came in handy. A low cost option for Hilo."
Aloha Crater Lodge

"So quiet and peaceful. Love the fresh local fruit, coffee, the fridge and and microwave. Super close to the Volcano entrance. Beds were comfy and shower was hot and perfect 😉 jacuzzi was nice."
SCP Hilo Hotel

"The SCP Hilo is a cute motel with a nice lobby and pool area. The staff are amazing-helpful and kind. The fitness area just has two Peloton bikes which is not great for those of us who don’t like biking, but I knew this before making a reservation. The bikes and paddle boards available for guests is a nice touch. The room itself is quite basic and a little small for more than two people, but it was comfortable."
