"Friendly, helpful and cheerful manager and staff. Clean and comfortable room, if a little 'tired' in places (and the toilet seat was VERY loose!). Pub food but very good (excellent steak and ale pie!), and great breakfast. Good choice of real ales (but no single malts!). Bar and dining area were a bit cold but the bedroom was cozy. An enjoyable stay and, again, all the staff were great."

"We celebrated our Golden Wedding at the Coniston Hotel, along with 12 friends. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The service was excellent and the location was superb with views over the lake from all our rooms. All our friends thought the hotel was a perfect venue for our weekend celebration. "Clean comfortable and very quiet. Not noticeably busy at all. Rather dated interior & no food served at the hotel. "We enjoyed many facets of our stay at the Lister Arms in early May. The sights and walks are stupendous--there are steep walks and near flat walks along the river and some through stone walled grass fields with lots of sheep. The food at the Lister was excellent and we had meals in the morning, midday and evening. Great selection of real ales. Very attentive and engaging staff. "
