"I visited Detroit for the first time and stayed at Hotel Houze for a long weekend.
I’ll start with the staff, they were kind!
The hotel is an old building, therefore if you go in the winter months the rooms are extremely cold. The staff were aware and provided me with a space heater! It was really cold.
Next, they were short staffed in the cleaning department. At one point not having house keeping at all. I stayed for 3 nights. When I checked in the bottom of my toilet had dried up pee. The room was clean, bed was made (I hope sheets clean) lol
Sheets showed no visible dirt, but definitely not freshly white.
As far as the area. There were many many homeless people having out and asking for money when u walk out.
No parking on site, a garage across th street ($30/night)
The staff was kind.
The room had a washer, dryer, full kitchen, I didnt use any of that, but very convenient.
The worst part was the cold, but again, the staff acknowledged th issue and tried to help with the space heater. "
