"A great hotel within walking distance to the glaciers. The overall hotel is peaceful and surrounded by raw beauty. All the staff were very helpful and welcoming. The rooms comfortable and clean. The restaurant was outstanding and we had a great dinner and breakfast during our visit. Ample parking available. My only regret is we didn't stay for an extra night at the hotel. Would highly recommend visiting Hotel Skaftafell! "

"This was a really special stay. The room was comfortable, clean and airy. We had lovely views of the mountain side. The staff were very welcoming and the meals were delicious. We had breakfast each day in the restaurant and there was plenty of choice of both hot and cold breakfasts. We had dinner on the first night and I had the kamb. "We loved our stay. It is in a quiet and remote area with a view that absolutely could not be beat. I wish we would have had more time here for the view alone. The place was clean, easy to access, with a lovely bathroom. Bonus points as well for the adorable and totally sweet yellow lab we met on the property. 5 starts for him alone. Would definitely come stay here again. The only thing I would advise for anyone staying for the first time is to plan ahead for food as options in the area are...

"Rather than stay in Egilsstadir, stay a bit outside of it. Direct access to the lake and, not mentioned in their promos, their own small waterfall!! Breakfast and dinner were excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful."
