"The hotel has been tastfully refurbished but we did not feel valued as guests. First there was the email after booking. Most hotels use this to welcome you and tell you about some of the nice things to look forward to. This hotel just used it to tell me how wrong it woul, having paid in full upfront ,there was the demand for a £50 deposit on arrival. I was told it was to cover damages and was necessary "because the hotel was independent and couldn't afford to cover the losses". How sad! Hotel,...

"Great location, but reception staff leave alot to be desired, I found them very condescending. Breakfast was average. Bedrooms were very stuffy as there wasnt any air conditioning, despite our room being a premier one. I wouldn't stay there again"

"Great location for the centre of Canterbury and access to the cathedral, shops and green spaces. Air-conditioning in room a bit noisy, but otherwise room met our needs. Ideally a coffee machine in the room would be better and a mini-bar. What we didn't like was the fact that we had booked a continental breakfast, but you could only order one item from a menu, and coffee/juice and the buffet offered was only cereal and fruit. Not sure how this is continental as would have expected...

"Staff were very helpful but the rooms were very hot. Our room was on the top floor in the roof. Extremely hot with no air, only had a small fan, windows didn’t open very far, I understand our stay was in the heatwave but the heat in the room was unbearable, couldn’t sleep, there wasn’t any ventilation at all. We did ask to be moved to another room but there wasn’t any available, we was offered a bucket of ice to put in front of the fan, but didn’t make any difference. Overall not a very good...

"Not sure the huge price increase just to have a view of the Tower of London was worth it. No coffee/tea in room. Self check-in which was fast but I would have rather had someone greet me while I checked in. Just in case I had questions. Plus it makes it feel personalized. All that said, room was immaculate and bed comfortable."

Everything excellent, from the room, the location, the staff, the restaurant. Definitely recommend staying here if you're in Folkestone."

"The staff members that I met were polite and helpful. The hotel is old and in need of refurbishment.The windows would not stay open on their own and bits of wood were supplied to keep them open. The lift was old and rickety as was the decor. The mattress was old and needed replacing. The shower was fine and the bedding and towels were clean. Ok if you are staying for one night as we were ,but would not book for any longer . Not value for money"

"First, the hotel is under renovation without mentioning on the site. We carried to heavy suitcases up two landings only to find the doors locked. Found the side door to get into the hotel. At night the temperature in the room was 85F and we were supplied a very small fan to compensate. Two warm bottles of water in the room and staff were unable to exchange for bottles in there fridge. There wasn’t a fridge to cool them. The two windows only opened about four inches which did nothing to cool...

"You get what you pay for. Cheap accommodation suitable for 1-2 nights. Staff very helpful and let us leave bags with them after check out (as we had 4 hours until our train left). Sea view from the room was great. Room was a bit tired but again, expected when paying the low price we did."

"The food at the hotel was very good and excellent value. The bar was a bit dingy and old fashioned. The weather was hot but the hotel provided good fans. There was plenty of hot water and a very comfortable bed. Overall it was good value and we enjoyed our stay."
