"Strikingly looking hotel. Unfortunately on entering reception, we were greeted with a dirty carpet, which carries on into the bar area with lots of stains. Our room was up 2 flights of stairs, which I wasn't aware of when I booked. Therefore, in this heatwave, the room was an oven. There was a desk fan - 'thank goodness'. Pleased with the room, the layout and amenities. Curtains need seeing to, useless and need blackouts! All the staff were pleasant and hard working. Did not expect a buffet...

"We had a good stay at the Sloop Inn. Lovely friendly staff. The best breakfast. The property is a little dated, and the bed isn't the most comfortable, but it was all good for a one-night stay. Would recommend."

We were visiting with a very large group and I visited other rooms, no other room has bare glaringly bright bulbs at sides of the beds. The bath had black mold round it. "Booked very short notice late in the evening and was greeted by a friendly staff member, who I had spoken to on the phone and advised where their free car park was situated, bonus for Chepstow. Linen etc was nice and clean as was the lovely new looking bathrooms. I realise an older property, but feel in 2026, could definitely do we a makeover, remove those horrible carpets, and stop the creaking floor boards, change your mattress's. Rooms need to be sound proofed as could hear a very loud TV...
