"Great location but its an older, smelly property"

"We used to come here for many years with our kids in the early 2000's. Back then the resort was in great condition. The street pavement was smooth, for kids to ride scooters and skateboards. All the landscape lighting worked. All the paint was good, etc. They also had a guard gate which limited access to guests only so there was very little traffic. Now it is looking much older, the pavement needs a resurfacing, finish carpentry needs to be redone, etc. It was not badly run down, just not up to the price. They charge $45 a night to park by your room now. That used to be free. There is a big public parking lot, but depending on where your room is, it could be 500 yards away. That may not be a problem for some, and it may be a problem for others. The California Coastal commission probably forced them to open the property to the public for beach access, and they put up big ugly signs everywhere...now you get people wandering through the place. It just doesn't feel as safe and secure as it used to. The location is great. It can not be beat. We just went to the Barefoot Grill for lunch and dinner, and the food was excellent. The views are wonderful. But it does feel like time is taking its toll on the place a bit."

"Beach view is the best on the boardwalk! Lots of loungers and beach chaises to relax and take in the ocean and people parade!"

"OK, the rooms were clean but very tiny. The main problem we had was with the location. Traffic was terrible all the time and it was quite difficult to get into usually having to do a very sharp U2 to get into it. I would not stay there again based on the location."

"Furnishings are beat up. Our "queen bed" was actually a double bed. Room did not have a closet. Hanging clothing had to hang in the bathroom. Bathroom door would not close. No lighting in bedroom at all. Only lighting was in the bathroom toilet and vanity area. You get what you pay for. AC was old dilapidated, noisy wall units. Buyer beware."

"The room was very quiet and comfortable. The staff was excellent and friendly. We didn't use the pool, because it was cold. The breakfasts were very good, although they seemed expensive compared of going off site."

"Sofa bed was horrible all the metal frames could be felt. Beds were tiny and also not in the best shape. Staff was helpful and friendly. But did not get to rest as we wished"

"4 year old had fun playing on the sand, making s’mores in the rooms fire pit, renting bikes in front of resort. The pool isn’t big but it wasn’t overly crowded. Definitely a family friendly place to stay. "

"The onsite parking is very cramped and not easy to navigate. The garage closest to the lobby is very limited and extremely difficult to get in and out of. Better off to park in the slightly larger garage on the other side."
