"This place was amazing! The rum was clean but average. No air conditioning but with the window open, fan, and dehumidifier it was very tolerable. The amazing part. .the staff and wildlife! Everyone was very friendly and went above and beyond to assist. Every morning and afternoon the spider monkeys came by the patio. So many birds and other wildlife to see just walking the grounds. If you love seeing wildlife then this is the place for you! "

"We loved our stay at Hotel Heliconias. The staff was so welcoming and friendly. The grounds were beautiful. A sloth was right on the property. Beautiful flowers and birds. The restaurant had a wonderful free breakfast in the morning and great dinner options. The hot springs on the property were delightful. About 30 minutes from Arenal Volcano"

"Amazing place! It is a little outside the town with an amazing view of the volcano. The property was so relaxing with a pool and shaded areas to hang out. So many birds and a beautiful garden! The actual room was good for sleeping and making simple meals but we spent most of our time outdoors on the property. Would stay again!"

"Great location, walking distance to entrance of Monteverde Cloud Forest! The front desk person was very sweet and helpful in guiding us - from parking in the property to where to eat and how to navigate the park. Staying here was a surreal experience, like you’re in the jungle/rainforest itself. We initially booked a normal room but asked whether we would have a kitchenette and the staff was very nice to upgrade us to the one bedroom apartment. Great amenities, would definitely come back and...

"Nepenthe is a gem. You need to grab this stay for as long as it stays a gem, the owners are getting older and are actively trying to sell. Make this trip, you will not regret it. Stay for the week, there is plenty to do around Arenal, do not spend hours driving that you could spend listening to the howler monkeys, watching the toucans every morning, or enjoying the oropendola living their day. "

"The friendliness, organization and attention to detail from the staff helped make our honeymoon so smooth. We spent more time at the hotel than we initially expected but so glad we had such a wonderful landing spot to spend our time at. Between the pools, restaurants, trail, yoga, and being 6 minutes from downtown, we had everything we needed right at our fingertips. We thought it would just be a place for us to sleep at night and ended up being a highlight of our experience. "

The location is about 2 km south of the center of La Fortuna, so a car is necessary. It is close to several of the tour outfitters that do canyoneering and rafting. It is initially hard to see on your first visit (look for the Sapiens sign on Ruta 702) because the group of 3 houses are set 70 meters south of the road and accessed via a thin 1 lane...

"Enjoyed our stay here! Lots to do near this hotel. The little cafe next to the pool has great lattes and cappuccinos. The breakfast was okay. We enjoyed our dinner at one of the offered restaurants near the gravel area with the fire pits. The staff were friendly and welcoming. "
