"We stayed at the hotel as we were going to see a local show The hotel is quite modern and doesnt have the quaint feel of an old thatched residence . It is in a noisy road but the double glazing was good. We had room 4 and it was very nicely decorated . The pub food was great and the breakfast was very good We wouldn't stay here as a holiday break but it suited our purpose"

"Second Nature Southampton is a lovely hotel. The room we had was spacious and clean, with a nicely sized bathroom. It’s not a far walk to Oxford Street, where you can find a collection of good restaurants and pubs. St. Mary’s Stadium, the goal of our trip, was an easy twenty minute walk away. The friendly front desk staff can get a little overwhelmed, as they have to attend to check-ins and the cafe; and if you have an email with your parking confirmation, have it ready, otherwise you may be told to park on the street. Overall, they do their best to accommodate you. So if you’re going to Southampton, Second Chance is a fine choice for lodging."

"We have stayed at the Harbour hotel on a number of occasions, as well as many other hotels in the area. The hotel is in a great location, has a pool and spa, and in our opinion is the best hotel in Southampton. That said, the room we were allocated appeared to be an apartment rather than a hotel room. It had a full-sized kitchen, but most appliances had been disabled, but the room had little cupboard space for hanging clothes. As we were staying for 4 days, this was impractical. The room also didn't have a phone, so we had to use our mobile to phone reception."

Rooms were a little small and in need of an update but for a cheaper hotel, was a great stay. Nice and close walking distance to lots of attractions in Southampton."

"The stay at Master Builders was excellent on almost all points. Bed, amenities, staff were all top notch. The setting is beautiful--very much "in nature" and the view of the water very pleasant. The small museums on site were interesting. The only negative comment I would have regards the restaurant. Staff were great but I felt the food was just ok. I expected a better culinary level. However, taste is subjective and I would not let the restaurant deter anyone from staying at Master Builders and enjoying the serenity. Visiting Beaulieu was also a plus in the area."

"Title: Lovely Hotel, but Overpriced Entry-Level Room We stayed at the Balmer Lawn Hotel for a work event. The hotel public areas are beautiful, the food was good, and providing a breakfast sausage for our dog was a really sweet touch. However, £177 felt steep for a budget room with a view of a brick wall (you'd have to stand on one leg and hang out the window to see the New Forest!). A £30 nightly dog fee also felt excessive. We didn't get to use the spa, but overall it’s a nice venue—just disappointing on room value and pet charges."
