"The room was meant to be soundproof but could hear next door for starters, then we seen it wasn’t a king size bed but two single beds put together which wasn’t very comfortable to say the least. Also two of the rooms I’d say are used for permanent residence. Then passing pedestrians through the night was noisy was irritating to say the least. We couldn’t work the heating system for the room. "

"A good but not outstanding stay. The staff are polite and welcoming, the rooms are comfy and clean. The shower pressure was dreadful though and the TV didn’t seem to have streaming services (if it did they weren’t easy to find). There was no bottled water in the room and the kettle/tea making stuff was cheap. For this kind of price point I’d expect a few more luxuries, but it was a perfectly good place to stay in York."

"Very helpful staff who provided excellent service and the room was comfortable. However the hotel patrons were rowdy and public areas like the toilets in the common area were dirty. The people in the room next to us were loudly talking into the early hours of the night which was so frustrating, so we didn't sleep well. But not the fault of the hotel. "

"Last minute booking as decided to stay overnight in York. Communication for check in was quick, property was easy to find, close to town and super clean and tidy. Had a relaxing stay and would definitely consider again next time we were in York. Small supermarket and Mrs Greedy’s at end of road was excellent for supplies and a quick cooked breakfast. "

"On arrival the staff were helpful and friendly. Our room was clean and comfortable and there was a good selection of food for breakfast. We have stayed at this hotel over many years and we have always enjoyed the experience."

"Nice rooms. Bathroom too small for me unfortunately. Pub looks a bit tired and could do with a makeover. Steps to rooms are metal fire escape outside at the back but treads not deep enough so be careful walking down them. Good atmosphere."

"For a budget property like this, expectations need to be pretty low. BUT, this is not too far from the city centre, and it’s a really good price for what you get. The room may be shabby and outdated but it is large, clean enough, the bed is very comfortable with nice and clean bedding. And lots of extras you don’t always find at this price - an ensuing bathroom (with bath), windows in both space, a room large enough to practice yoga, kettle and decent tea facilities, and a communal kitchen....

"Booked an ensuite room but my room didn't have a bathroom and had to use the shared bathrooms. No staff was on site and had to call to check in. Opening the door to the room requires one hand to turn the electronic lock and the other hand to turn the doorknob. This is inconvenient when you're carrying stuff in your hand."

"C’est dommage de faire une critique plus négative lorsque les gens qui travaillent dans un établissement sont si gentils et serviables et qu’on offre un déjeuner et des possibilités de stationnement gratuit. Toutefois, la chambre que nous avons eu était minuscule, peu confortable et extrêmement mal isolée, ce qui fait que tous les soirs, nous entendions les gens dans les autres chambres ou qui bavardaient dans le corridor,. "Lovely apartment in a historic building, ideally located just outside the city centre, but within easy walking distance of all places of interest in York. Nice touch of leaving a bottle of bubbly in the fridge - a good sign that the hosts are attentive. The apartment itself is well furnished and equipped, and really does feel like a home from home. Overall, thoroughly recommended."
