"Reception was excellent and helpful 24 dinning room staff on the ball no delays between courses bar prices were reasonable for area bedroom was well for amenities and free wi fi car park was really good just £6 a night and discounted for day time ie arrive sunday leave tuesday was just £12 would well recommend it if in that area brilliant. "The hotel staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. We were very impressed by the professionalism, friendliness and welcoming attitude. The restaurant was so good too. The chef is amazing with a great variety of top class dishes. The hotel is in a lovely area and ideal for our needs. We will absolutely return. "

"Very good service, room comfortable with a lovely Lounge and Bar with beautiful fittings and decor. An amazing lift and great ambience in the Dining Room. A delicious dinner and breakfast. A stunning after dinner walk in picturesque surroundings. Could do with an advertising board nearer the M6 as you are such a hidden gem!"

"It’s hard to comment properly as we arrived late in the dark but even still the staff on the desk were so friendly greeting us, and super helpful and understanding when I realised I’d made a mistake with the booking. It’s lovely and quiet despite being so close to the motorway. Immediately put at ease and reassured that it’s a great place to stay, even if as it is for us just an overnight stopover mid journey. "

"My stay at the Shakespeare was short but will be remembered as a really good experience. I felt like a truly valued customer, everyone was so friendly and helpful. The room was good and the bed was huge!! It was 2 lovely nights sleep, nice hot shower in the morning followed by a cooked breakfast. It really set me up for the day. I would most certainly revisit and can recommend it for a good place to stay in Kendal."

"A very nice hotel , good rooms and superb food and wines. Dover Sole for dinner was magnificent. Wines chosen from their adjacent wine shop ( corkage £10 per bottle ) were exceptional and good prices for Bin ends. Staff were very helpful , polite and very efficient."
