"A basic room but the location was exceptional overlooking the lagoon. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Only negative was that we couldn't stay longer!"

"Our stay at Hotel Tortuguero Beachfront was completely unacceptable, and the lack of customer service made it worse. We booked 2 rooms for 3 nights and requested multiple times prior to arrival that they be together due to my son in one room and my husband and I in another. They weren’t. We waited 45+ minutes at check-in while staff tried to fix it—well past check-in time. The first room had a leaking AC that soaked our belongings while we were out. No apology. We were moved, but the new room had no hot water for 2 nights. We reported it immediately—nothing was fixed despite being told otherwise. We asked to check out early and be refunded for the unused night—denied. We requested a manager daily and were told he wasn’t available. No follow-up. The property itself was a mess: loud dogs at 5 AM, staff children running unsupervised, broken fixtures, empty food trays, long waits, no “Do Not Disturb” signs, paper-thin walls, and a non-working safe. Staff said only the owner could help—but he never responded. Even after follow-ups post-stay, we were told nothing could be done “due to policy.” Overpriced, filthy, and poorly managed. Avoid at all costs."

"The staff was amazing! Like unbelievably amazing! Greeted at the dock, luggage taken care of, greeted with fresh watermelon juice, chef cooked such delicious meals (dessert included), housekeeping cleaned 2-3 times a day, cooper hooked us up with tours, everything was great and relaxing. 3 minute walk to the beach, 5 minute walk to the national park, 5 minute walk to the village. "

"It’s a little but of work to get to mawamba, but once you’re there it’s quite pleasant. The pool area is A+ and the breakfast is too. The walk into town is easy and the number of places to get dinner is plentiful. Beware the birds are noisy but that’s nature at its best! "

"The rooms were clean, the food was very good, the staff was amazing! Our guide on the excursions was an official guide set up by the hotel. His name is Jairo and he was amazing. We csnnot say enough about how good he was. Fluent english and Spanish and his knowledge and expertise was astounding!"

"Short walk from the docs to Pura Natura. there is a small office near the docks and Natalia was there when we arrived. She is wonderful, enthusiastic and showed us to our accommodations. Simple first floor rooms with AC and a nice breakfast (a new feature) each day. Clean bathrooms and room. Pura Natura faces the water and nothing in between you and the Caribbean except for some trees and a sandy pathway. is a very short walk to the beach. "

"Lovely spacious room, hotel located in the middle of all the wildlife we saw almost everything possible- with sloths, monkeys, armadillos & loads more outside our front door. Pool areas was brill & loads to do and see locally- staff were brill, the bar closed a bit early "
