"The A.S. 1829 is one of the nicest hotels we’ve ever stayed in. They did a wonderful drop working with the pen and stationary downstairs (open since 1829) to retain the aesthetics and character of the building. The room was elegant and spacious. The staff were wonderful. A 5 star stay for sure. The only criticism, and this is a tiny thing, is that the light switches are comically complicated. Very unclear which buttons control which lights and many don’t control any light at all. But all around...

"The property makes creative use of its small space in the historic area. We enjoyed our balcony view of the city from our studio. Fresh and new inside with a Roman wall in the back. Staff is wonderful and genuinely helpful. Breakfast is good too. But do not plan to drive or park there. The road is very narrow. We left our car at a nearby parking garage. Wonderful location in the walkable historic district near the river."

"Excellent location with great view of Porto cathedral! Many restaurants, shops and walking distance to Sao Bento station. Staff were very friendly and helpful, provided good overview of apartment and suggestions for eating at which restaurants! Loved our stay, highly recommend! Apartment was clean, completely with kitchen, and very spacious! Excellent sound proofing and comfortable beds!"
