Furnishings are beautiful antiques and dinner served in the elegant dining room was excellent, served by a friendly, cheerful, polite waitress.

All of the above . Sense of graciousness. Warm welcome at reception. In our room, lovely sheets , comfortable bed . Well appointed bathroom , but problem with bathtub drain, which we noted to the cleaner on our leaving. Delicious breakfast in the morning . Dining room festive and inviting, with all tables covered in white tablecloths and bright red linen napkins at each place. Elaborately decorated for the Christmas season. Generally there was too much stuff ! Antique dolls , stuffed animals, cloth curtains, etc.All attracting dust. We shall return - maybe after spring clearing .

Charming hotel steeped in history. Was up from FL for a friend getting ordained and decided to take my boy to Sackville so he could see where his grandmother was from. Always heard of the Marshland from my mom for its food back in the day, and as the 'Queen' had been there, apparently as princess and again much later as queen. Quiet, as was in November. Rooms as described in pictures; well maintained and oozing in history. Beds were comfy and warm which was nice as it was 27f outside. Excellent breakfast in the dinning room and great value, especially with the ambiance. Walkable to Mount A University. Great staff, very attentive. Would defiantly stay again.

My last day of my vacation trip ended at your amazing place! I just loved the sitting area at the entrance where you could just relaxe, have a drink, chat and enjoy the fresh air!! Loved the garden in the back also. My room was upstairs in the “Garage building”in the back of the Inn. Very beautiful, clean and had a homey feeling! Thank you! It made my last stay of my vacation one I will always remember ❤️

Very Disappointing
Shame on Hotels for advertising this as 11.67 miles from Hopewell Rocks. It takes over an hour to get there. Aside from that, the Inn was obviously beautiful in its day but Room 5 in the Carriage House was unclean, unpleasant and dangerous with cords trailing into the room. There is a wooden tray under the bathroom mirror that has toothpaste and other stains, a rusted heater near the tub where water pools, chipping plaster on the bathroom ceiling, loose wooden flooring at the entrance to the bathroom and dust webs hanging inside the valances over the bed. If we had more time, I would have asked for a room change. I saw no pool so would question that. The gardens, like the Inn, must have been nice in their day. When we asked if dinner was served, the owner stated, not tonight, maybe tomorrow. There is no breakfast served. Although I'm sure he's a nice person, the owner made a comment to us about feeling like the inn is running them. The whole experience made me feel very sad. There is not 24 hour desk coverage. You must ring a bell and wait. After reading other reviews about waiting, I left the key on the desk on the way out and hoped for the best. Perhaps staying in the main house is better. I should have brought these items to the owner's attention but the owner also should not place people in a room in this condition. I was tempted to not review this at all but I don't want others to be disappointed. Next time, I'll pay more attention to the reviews.

This is an old property, very Victorian, beautifully maintained. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the kitchen is excellent. The experience here is rather unique. No high-rise luxury hotel can hope to match the atmosphere of the Marshlands.

Housekeeping help was amazing. Checkin and out not so much. Long delay in checking out and received numerous excuses long before an apology. No breakfast so change this on website. Place is more about appearance and less about substance as in customer relations. Noise from taps demeaning, mould in tub. Could add more but will run out of room.

Check in should have been fine but he didn’t understand English well so after some confusion it was sorted out and they found our reservations. It is a quirky place. The first thing that hits you in the main house is the smell which is off putting. Luckily we were in the carriage house which was fine. We were disappointed that the dining room was closed for breakfast due to a bus tour arriving later the next day and they were not very encouraging about dinner which we were all looking forward to as the menu looks fantastic. They said they could make us dinner but would need to know ahead of time what we were having so the chef could fit it in while prepping for the next day. Didn’t make us feel eager to have a nice seafood meal while being squeaked in between prep! There’s no coffee or tea in the room so with no breakfast available I called to the front desk to ask if there was at least coffee in the lobby and again the response was sort of like “well if you let us know what time you want coffee I guess we could make you one”. Lovely property and places to sit on the ground. Just would have been better to feel welcomed instead of an inconvenience. Overall disappointed.

Neither welcomed nor comfortable
We had booked a two-bed room for Sunday, July 9. When we arrived, we were told we’d been booked with a single queen bed. When I said that was not right, we were offered a room with a queen bed and a single bed on the third floor. There was no offer to carry any bags up. When I said we were looking forward to trying the restaurant, there was no response - so I asked if it was open that evening, and got the response “yeah, probably. I dunno. I’d have to ask the chef.” Wow, they clearly did not care. After lugging the bags up, we found a room with an standing air conditioner with a cracked plastic pipe. It was pumping out, but with the cracked pipe the room was still hot. The single bed was under an overhang, and our feet would stick out. The toilet was weirdly low, and the soap side dish looked like it hadn’t been cleaned since the 19th century. We left to explore the Bay of Fundy, and when we came back, despite leaving the air con on the lowest setting, it was a sauna - well over 35 degrees. The restaurant was, indeed, not open that night. We checked out and went to Moncton instead. As we honour our agreements, we did pay for the night. The on duty manager did offer us a different room in the 2nd floor, but at that point, the whole experience left a bad taste in our mouths, and we just left We did not feel welcomed at all.

Was told my room was given to someone else and was given a room on top floor that needed ac which took a while to get put in. The toilet was in the room with a shower curtain to close it off from rest of the room which was not a pleasant experience after a number 2. Very old jury-rigged switch and lights were old. Did not feel safe so started searching for escape routes. If stairs were ever blocked would have had to pass through a window hatch at top of house and climbed along very rickety looking ladders laid along top of roof to a vertical one on side of the house. Building needed much updating. Not sure how it passes fire and safety inspection. Such a shame as place has potential.

The staff were helpful - changed our room and brought a fan. The bed was terrible and needs to be replaced. It squeaked every time you moved. The windows could not be opened and there was no AC and it was a very warm evening. Although we could understand why there was no breakfast or dinner available because of staff illness, making a pot of coffee for guests in the morning would be a simple and welcome gesture. Again, the staff were excellent. The rooms need some upgrading for sure.

The old-century charm was a lovely throwback to the 1920s while still keeping the conveniences of the later 20th century. We have been to the Inn before. The chef is great! This time we had forgotten that breakfast ended at 9:30. However, we love that the property is centrally located, close to downtown while still being quiet. The staff are friendly, helpful, and flexible.

Stayed here one night while in town for the university. Walking distance to everything. Room was clean. Bed comfortable. Only issues was really hot at night. I get it. Old house. Shower was a bit awkward. I’m a bigger guy. It was quiet. Clean. Good price. I agree with some people it’s a bit dated for decor with all the stuff but also feels like you’ve stepped back in time. Would stay again.

This is definitely a unique and magnificent property. It just feels a bit run down and as if it needs a ton of money invested. They would start with a serious, serious decluttering. Sooo much unnecessary stuff! The staff we saw were very nice but saw no one in the morning. Sign at the dining room said breakfast starts at 7 but was dark and saw no one by 8-830. Just left disappointed by what this property could be.
