"We had a brilliant stay at Melrose B&B. Our room was immaculate and had everything we needed. Staff were very helpful and parking was provided. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and the food was excellent. We would highly recommend and we will definitely be returning"

"We went as a foursome to celebrate an anniversary. The staff, as always, are friendly and helpful and the service in the restaurant is efficient and cheerful. We had great rooms with a great view of the fells. The spa is wonderful. I had a fantastic afternoon in the gym and pool then relaxed with a book with occasional trips to the outdoor spa. "We LOVED our stay here! Our room was the “Grand Room, 1 King Bed, Balcony, Garden View” in the newer building and the attention to detail was exceptional. Loved the large comfy bed, our cozy robes, the deep bathtub and accompanying luxury toiletries and bath soaking salts. The WiFi was fast and the staff members were fantastic. It was a close walk into town and close to everything you could want to explore in the Lakes District. Very cool how the hotel provides wellies (Hunter Boots) for guests...

"The breakfast was superb. We tried the evening menu special which was a Pheasant breast.It wasn't the best I've tasted, it was nicely presented but it was rather salty and dry. The bed mattress provided a good nights sleep and the room was spacious and clean. Well worth the 5 stars"

"Amazing place to stay "

"Self check instructions were clear. Room was serviced while we were out. Help via the phone was immediate when we needed it. Room clean and spacious. All very good. Only downside was that car park was a good 5-8 minute walk away… but at least there was parking as opposed to there being none. Needed window open as warm weather but that lead to noise disturbance. Of course that was due to fabulous central location - I realise you can’t have central and quiet! I’d stay again, thank you. "

"Very pleasant small property. 5 mins walk from central Ambleside. Well equipped and warm. Perhaps a bit small for a family of 4 but great for two people. Nicely decorated with thoughtful touches. Only one parking space but a car park 4 mins walk down the hill. Would recommend."

"Have stayed at Briery Wood many times over the last 7 years or so. Consistently good, spotless bathrooms, fabulous breakfast and really excellent restaurant. Reasonably priced for the terrific standard. But the staff are exceptional. Friendly, professional and well trained. We like that they keep the staff on through the winter and chatting with the housekeeper found she is in her 21st year. Many of the others there 10 years +. That says a lot about a business for me. Also very dog...
