Excellent host’s Neil & Sue very accommodating and friendly awesome service from homemade Dinners to delicious breakfast. Absolutely truly wonderful experience in a little slice of heaven location.

Favorite place we’ve stayed…ever? I can’t recommend the Villa Walton enough. It’s so beautiful and well looked after, the gardens are stunning. We stayed in the cottage and had everything we wanted, the secluded outdoor tub was lovely! The food was amazing. I think I ate more breakfast here than I have in my entire life. My wife and I have dietary restrictions and Sue Neil were extremely accommodating and thoughtful. Everything was delicious and I wish we stayed longer! We’ll definitely be back for another slice of heaven!

Apart from the fact the house and gardens are stunning, we were so well looked after, what was supposed to be a local base for a 3 day work trip left us feeling like we had been on holiday for a week. The house and rooms restful, food heavenly, and the host treated us like old friends. We we definitely return!

Wunderschöne Unterkunft mit ganz tollen und netten Gastgebern. Man fühlt sich wie in einem englischen Landhaus und kommt in der Stadt der Hobbits absolut zur Ruhe. Die Ausstattung ist perfekt. Wir hatten das Gästehaus gebucht, welches wundervoll und sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet war. Ein Highlight ist die Badewanne im Aussenbereich aus der man Nachts die Sterne beobachten kann. Das Abendessen in dem kleinen Restaurant des Hauses ist ganz hervorragend. Das Frühstück wurde uns im Gästehaus bereit gestellt und war wirklich lecker. Abgerundet wurde es durch Maracujas aus dem eigenen Garten. Wir würden jederzeit wieder hinfahren.

Excellent luxury stay. Well-renovated historical building, beautiful gardens, fresh food home grown and locally sourced. Great small touches that shows attention to detail. Personal and professional service. Great place to stay e.g. when visiting Hobbiton since it is only 25 min away by car. Also nice just for a comfortable getaway to relax.

Villa Walton is a must stay if visiting Matamata. Beautiful rooms and decor, delicious homemade food, immaculate grounds and exceptional hosts - Glenn was knowledgeable about the area, giving great advice on things to see, and made sure that we enjoyed our stay at both Villa Walton and Matamata.

Charming bed and breakfast with Victorian styling, updated amenities and features like a heated towel rack in the bathroom, and stand-up-frameless shower. The property was quiet and made it easy to relax. The owners are fantastic hosts who provide excellent coffee, breakfast and drinks for a relaxing nightcap. My wife is still talking about the avocado toast with toasted cheese. Definitely recommend Villa Walton.

This is a very perfect mansion which is both classic and modern. I’m surprised that even the towels are put on a heating rack. We love the food a lot, both dinner and breakfast. Fresh ingredients and nicely cooked by the host! Host is very nice and introduced us to sheep feeding. Thanks for lending us a HDMI cable as well since our laptop’s monitor is not functioning well and we need to connect it to the TV.

My partner and I absolutely loved our stay here. The room was gorgeous and comfortable - beautiful bathroom and very clean. The whole place has been gorgeously decorated and there are so many small touches that just make it so inviting. Glen was a fantastic and welcoming host, not to mention an excellent chef! Our breakfast was delightful and the sticky date pudding was delightful. It was also great to interact with the sheep, chickens, and Willis the cat on the property. Would absolutely recommend staying here - truly a beautiful place!

Amazing B&B Experience
We had an amazing experience at Villa Walton. From the condition of the house, the service, various thoughtful touches, to the friendliness of our host Glenn, everything was just spot on. We even had the luck to be upgraded to a bigger room. Glenn took the time to show us his lambs on the farm and let us bottle feed them. The next morning we had a delicious breakfast to start the day before hitting off to Hobbiton. Overall it was a very unique B&B experience which I will highly recommend.

Worth it!
This place is amazing and the hosts go out of their way to help in any way they can! They gave us great recommendations when we were visiting and even booked/reserved places for us. Amazing service and the stay was awesome!

Absolutely beautiful accomodation and lovely hosts. Very accommodating. The room was beautiful with a view of the garden. The tiny kitchen closet was very cute with a bell of biscuits too. I would definitely stay there again. Can’t wait to book the private villa. We also absolutely adored their cat. Thanks guys you were amazing!

Villa Walton is an impressive place to stay. Heritage look and feel, yet ultra-modern amenities. Luxury blended beautifully with instant comfort features in the room. Loved the lounge and cooked breakfast to our liking by the fireplace and welcomed by their cat - Wallace, made us feel at home.

Exceptional - stayed 2 nights, had one amazing meal in house, breakfasts & service to die for! Glenn is a great chef & nothing is too much trouble. Thoroughly recommend to anyone visiting Hobbiton, Field days or just passing through.

Beautiful and peaceful rural retreat
Our stay started with a friendly greeting and tour of the villa. We enjoyed a complimentary drink and cuppa in the evening. Our room was clean wiith cozy with little extras like bottled water and fresh Anzac biscuits. Breakfast was amazing. We look forward to staying again another day.

I like everything, the property was so clean and well presented. The owners took such pride in it, and most of all Glenn was so friendly and really went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable

Villa Walton was absolutely perfect and the host Mark was wonderful and went above and beyond to assist us. We were in town for a funeral and my husband forgot his cufflinks and Mark even provided some cufflinks to borrow. The cottage was beautiful, really comfortable (the bed is divine) and the perfect space for us for two nights. The breakfast was delicious (I loved the organic blueberry pancakes!). If we are ever back in the area we will definitely stay again. I’d highly recommend Villa Walton - 5 stars all the way ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

非常漂亮的一個地方，大推!附近幾乎什麼都沒有，要去哪都要開車，不過房間很美，整棟建築處處可見對細節的要求，晚餐可以在民宿吃，老闆煮的很用心，吃完以後可以出來看星星，周遭完全無光害

Glenn and Mark were are excellent hosts. It was nice being out in the country, but still close to Matamata and Hobbiton. The gardens are beautiful and were nice to relax in after a long day touring.

A lovely property with well appointed rooms and a very engaging host. The breakfasts have fresh farm produce. Everything is thought of by Glen and the property and surrounds are perfect for a guesthouse in rural surrounds close to Matamata and Hobbiton.
