"Honestly, the quality of the rooms is on a whole other level. The staff was wonderful. The restaurant, well simply amazing.
It’s only con (which may be a pro to some people) is that you are literally on Dam Square. So it’s busy, very busy.
Other than that, no notes! "
"Public transport was really near and also Central Station, was a nice place to stay since have a lot of places walking distance to eat, shop, and to look around "

"Excellent location, quiet and clean. The staff went above and beyond for us from the moment we checked in early. I stupidly left my phone in the taxi on the way to the train station. When I realized I’d lost it, my friend called the hotel, who immediately checked my room and when they didn’t find it, took it upon themselves to call the taxi company. Within a few minutes of calling the hotel, they’d tracked down the taxi, located my phone, and sent the driver to meet me at the train station so we’d make our departure. This is WAY above the call of duty, and saved the day. Would recommend 1000 times over. "
"Staying at the Grand Hotel was truly one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. While it may not be the most modern or flashy property, its historic charm more than makes up for it. Our room was enormous, beautifully kept, and full of character. The location was unbeatable—perfectly placed to enjoy everything Amsterdam has to offer.
What really made the stay unforgettable was the service. It felt like stepping back in time to when hospitality meant something special. The staff were available 24/7, arranging taxis, anticipating needs, and treating us with the kind of old-school attentiveness you’d expect from a personal butler. Their warmth and professionalism elevated the entire trip.
The hotel’s amenities were just as impressive—the comfortable bed, a luxurious tub, the pool, and all the little details that made it easy to balance both business and leisure. I even had local friends visit, and they were equally impressed with the beauty and history of the building.
I have no complaints—only gratitude. The Grand Hotel added an unforgettable touch of elegance and charm to my Amsterdam experience."
"We stayed here a whole week and would happily recommend it. The hotel staff were great: professional and friendly. Breakfast is a buffet of hot food (scrambled eggs, beans, sausages, baked tomatoes) and cold food like cheeses, cold meats and salads. Our room was large, spacious, and came with a small coffee machine. The bathroom was very clean, the shower unit was spacious, the water was always hot and strong. The room overlooked one of the main squares in the city, hence a great location with dozens of restaurants to choose from, but also it was noisy typically until 5am. They provide earplugs if you want, or we player white noise on our phone which did the trick. If you forego room cleaning, they give you a free drink at the bar, where you can sit out overlooking the square. But the bar closes early at 10pm. "
"Great hotel! We’ve stayed at Kimptons before and love the amenities — and this one in Amsterdam was no different! We didn’t eat at the restaurant but we visited the bar quite a bit for some great cocktails, and participated in the hotel happy hour one night before heading to dinner. The rooms were nice — not a ton of counter space in the bathroom or places to put products in the shower area, though. The neighborhood the hotel is in wasn’t a happening / trendy neighborhood or anything but it was convenient to get to other areas (and Centraal station!). Overall good experience at this hotel & would recommend it for your stay!"
