"The staff were pleasant and the pool area was OK. Location of the hotel was good. However on the second floor the decor was in need of a lot of improvement. The carpet was threadbare in places; the corridor and our room 223 had paint flaking off in places; the curtains were in need of replacement and were tattily drawn which looked a mess. The bathroom only had one narrow shelf above the toilet which meant there was nowhere to put your toiletries. Finally thought paying £10 per night for car...

"This hotel is a lovely old building set in very pleasant grounds. We visited to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday and were given a complimentary upgrade to a four poster room. It was spacious and nicely decorated in a traditional way which suited the property. We didn't use the spa facilities, but the swimming pool and jacuzzi were nice. Breakfast was very good.
