However, there were 2 major issues which were not in keeping with a 5* at this price point: 1) there is a huge unattached manhole on the road in front of the hotel which makes a racket every time a car drives over it and keeps you up at night through the night; 2) a horrible drain stench from the toilet / bidet in the rooms. "Before we even arrived the staff helped to organise flowers, fruit, and sweets in our room as a surprise for my wife. Accompanied by both a personal message from myself and another from the hotel. The room is immaculate. Lovely towels refreshed twice a day, the breakfast and evening food is both diverse and delicious. "The location is great if you want to be in the center of Sorrento and shopping. The hotel reception is not in the ground level so be prepared to walk up the stairs to check in with your luggage. It’s a very basic room but staff is helpful."
