"I stayed at the Chaya house which was absolutely stunning. The staff were incredibly friendly and a joy to speak with. Otsu is a smaller quiet town with lots of character and friendly residents. I highly recommend checking out the local Izakayas and cafes for an equally excellent experience."

"The hotel was very nice and the staff was great. 20 seconds from the hotel you can walk the paths along the lake and it is beautiful. Two stops away from Kyoto station. "

"Severely outdated hotel. Most definitely NOT a family hotel as it is a "love hotel" and NOT safe for families. Entire room covered in yellow nicotine and the smell was horrendous. "

"The stay here was wonderful. The staff were amazing, the dining experience was perfect. Would recommend for anyone that wants a quiet onsen off the main travel path."

"We stayed here for four nights while in Kyoto. The location was great. Ideal for doing local shopping or jumping on the subway. It was also right in an area with a bunch of nightlife, which was cool to see, and didnโt have any negative impact on the area (Japan in general is very safe). Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. "
"Staying at this hotel was a highlight of the trip. The onsen was exactly what we needed to recover after four days in Tokyo. The rooms were quaint and well-appointed, although it would have been extra to get room cleaning they still provided fresh towels daily. Only a couple blocks away from the subway station made it a walkable location while being quiet and safe. Not much in the way of shopping nearby other than a small Don Quijote and the usual convenience stores. Right up the street a pizza joint with 100k in the name was one of the best meals of the whole trip. The paid breakfast food was absolutely amazing and the free ramen at night was a delight. 24/7 message chairs, Yakult in the morning, popsicles in the evening, with coffee, water, and matcha available at all times made the place extremely comfortable and convenient. The staff were friendly and unobtrusive about keeping everything clean and running smoothly. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing, affordable accommodation."
"The breakfast was a very traditional Kyoto fare with a few western options.
It was nice that there was chicken and veggie tempura. My family esp loved the green tea latte machine.
Nice to have dessert options at breakfast too!
The only thing is that menu options are exactly the same everyday. The food for non-asian may be a little too authentic. "
"Room is small but clean
Dinner was really good and lots of choices
Train station is right across the street
Restaurants and shops close right at 9 so plan accordingly "
