"The property is timber framed and old, really old. Cleanliness and condition is very good but this building needs constant maintenance. We loved it, it’s very old and full of history. Very cute little town, very nice surroundings. We hit it in the middle of a heat wave and there is no AC, in fact there’s likely no AC in most of the village but the normal temperature does not require it. We were just unlucky. "The hotel itself is looking a bit tired but our room was spotless and clean. The staff were so lovely and helpful. The buffet breakfast was hot and tasty. The location is amazing. Fantastic place to stay if u don't want to spend loads of time in the hotel."

"The West Wing where we were staying was beginning restoration. Shortly, but not too sweetly; for reasons I would be happy to list on request, I consider that Management would benefit in reputation from closing the wing till completion, rather than continuing to exploit its present tired mediocrity."

"Lovely little gem right in the heart of Cowes. 5 mins walk to the Red Jet ferry. Lots of lovely cafés, bars and restaurants within 5 mins. A great find."

It has the feel of a run-down hotel which is in the process of being up-graded by the present owners. "The breakfast was excellent but wasn't at the Lady Hamilton it was 2 doors down. The double room was tiny, more suited to a single room. There was a very small space between the wall and the bed and care was needed not to nudge the kettle on the way past. No space for furniture although a hanging rail and a few shelves were behind a curtain. There was a stool. To exit the property there was a steep staircase and a fire door that shut behind you. "Excellent location for the town centre and the theatre. The room was comfortable and clean. It has free parking for hotel guests. The food in the bar was good but they had stopped serving food by the time we came back after an early show by 8/ 8.30pm on a Sunday ."

"A good hotel with helpful staff. Breakfast buffet good. Crazy practice of charging hotel guests to park but that seems to be a growing trend. Be honest and include the charge in the hotel costs instead of hiding additional costs."
