Day 1-3: Once you’ve collected your luggage at Malta International Airport, make your way to nearby Sliema, a popular coastal resort. The magnificent promenade, lined with bars, cafés and restaurants, is the place to see and be seen. Also take advantage of this town’s terrific shopping, bustling nightlife and picturesque rocky beaches.
Day 4-6: Malta’s beautiful capital, Valletta, is just a short ferry trip from Sliema. One of the most popular attractions here is St. John’s Co-Cathedral, which houses a huge painting of John the Baptist by Caravaggio. Marvel at the City Gate, Parliament Building and Royal Opera House, visit fascinating museums and take a cruise around the city.
Day 7-9: Located just across the water from Valletta is Birgu, the largest part of an area known as the Three Cities. There’s plenty to see here, including the Inquisitor’s Palace and Fort St. Angelo. Continue to Gozo Island to explore its pristine beaches.
