The experience staying at the property was very good. We visited all the tourist attractions on foot. It is very safe to walk around the area. It was great and I would definitely stay there again.
The room has no windows or air, just a small hole opening into an inner space that smells terrible. There is no light, and it feels like a matchbox. Sleeping there is unbearable. The owner didn’t answer calls or messages. The only good thing is the location, right in the center with everything nearby. We survived.
Location is excellent, facilities are good, despite the bathroom is outside, the security box wasn’t working and got lost 2 euros, asked for my money back but not happened, overall is a very good option for staying in the center of Madrid.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
When I booked this reservation I did not realize that this is a hostel. It said 2 bedroom 2 bath room and while technically it was, it was basically 1 big room with 3 beds. It did have 2 small bathrooms. It was ok since we were out most of the time, just not what I was expecting. The location was really great for shopping, restaurants etc, the staff was very helpful.
The place is centrally located with the major attractions within 30 minutes walking distance. This is great for someone that values convenience over comfort.
The place was not listed as a hostel when we booked. Although it has its own private bath, the bed is a small double and the flannel comforter is just a little bigger than the bed, so we had to adjust the cover every time we turn such that one doesn't pull the cover away from the other in the bed. The bed sheet is also slightly smaller than the flanel cover, so you are bound to be covered by the flanel which is seldom washed.
The room is small with very little walking space around the bed.
Getting into the building on the first night was tough because you have to call and we were tourists who could barely communicate but every other thing was perfect.
The hotel is in an excellent location, steps for anything.
But, althought the hotel is inexpensive and I wasn't looking to find anything fancy, the hotel needs some important improvements to make any stay more comfortable. One chair for three people, one small table in whole room, no dresser or any other space to put luggage on. Two oulets in all room (one of them used with the fridge). Private bathroom out of the room, which is a con too.
The hostel is in central location, easy to walk everywhere. The unit itself is very very small. The walls of the room was in need of painting, the blanket on one of the bed had (blood? rust?) spots. The bathroom door inside badly needed paint, the paint on the bathroom shelf was peeling, so was the paint in the table’s drawer. It is on a major shopping street. It was noisy enough, that we received free earplugs, although there was no soap in the bathroom, only four little pouches of shower gels, the kind that is usually offered for promotional purposes, enough for one time use. There was no coffee or coffeemaker in the room. The walls were so thin, that we could hear every word from the next room.
It gave the impression of uncleanness and neglect, however it was not dirty. The staff did not speak English, we did not speak Spanish, communication was not easy. The main attraction of this accommodation is the central location.
In my opinion it is what it is. I would not complain if the price would not be in the same price range as the other much better accommodations in other big cities.
CH Las Murallas is right in the middle of one of the coolest shopping districts of Madrid. Gran Via and the Chueca are just a few steps away too. The rooms of this casa de huespedes are quite essential but nicely renovated and clean. The building has an elevator and this is an uncommon feature in this area of Madrid. The guy in charge of the check-in is very kind and can speak a proper english. The only drawback of this accommodation is the lack of sound insulation, both in the walls and the door. This may become a problem especially during the weekend, when the casa de huespedes is full of people coming and going at every time ot the day and the night. But, again, this is just a minor downside considering that the room rates are a real bargain. All in all I recommend casa de huespedes Las Murallas and I will consider it for my future trips to Madrid!
The room pictured and the actual room provided was much smaller, the walls are paper thin and you can hear literally everything from the hall and adjacent rooms, you can hear a pin drop, the is by far the noisiest hotel room I have ever stay in. The room seemed clean enough but everything was run down. Check-in was difficult, I received an email after booking stating I needed to call before arriving as there is no check in desk, there is no services whatsoever in this hotel. After waiting what seemed forever, a Spanish woman appeared and could barely speak English, she used google translate to talk to me, I would later find out she is also a maid. I received the keys from her and proceeded to have the worst stay of my entire life, I've travelled the world and stayed in hundreds of hotels, I'm a 59 year old man.
