Haka House Lake Tekapo
Beautiful view from kitchen but everything else was awful. Never been so hot in a dorm. Why air conditioning in the whole hostel but not the rooms? No towel included. And one of the 2 fridges was out so groceries stuffed in one fridge. Super expensive.

With the location being for star gazing I would have thought there would have been a lights out time for less light pollution

Skyrim Lodge
It was clean and cozy, and perfect for stargazing even just outside the door. It had everything we needed for our two night stay in Lake Tekapo.
