Had to leave room key with reception every time you leave the building. Felt very unsafe as they could easily take all valuable items from your room.

Pleasantly surprised!
We saw mixed reviews about the commongate before we booked so were a little apprehensive on our journey down. We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of our room given the very low price. It’s never going to be the Ritz but this hotel is absolutely fine to stay in if you’re happy with the basics and just want a room to sleep in. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a cheap stay in London. I would come back here again. The only very very minor feedback point is that they only give you 1 pillow and the water from the bathroom has a sign on it saying it is not drinkable, so make sure you bring your own water or you can just use the kettle in the room.

Refused our room
When we arrived we were greeted by the incredibly rude staff that yelled at me and my girlfriend about how they were refusing to give me a room. I tried to tell the staff that i had a booking and that we needed the room, but was told to cancel the booking and that they would not take us. As we are 2 queer women it made us feel incredibly unsafe and threatened that we were refused a room by this man who then kicked us out into the dark streets of London. We were sober, it was late at night and we had thin clothes on so the streets were cold. Very happy that we got refunded, but do not book this hotel as they might not give you your room...

We are so sorry. But under the current restrictions you must provide an evidence to support your stay. Spend the night outside your main residence is not allowed unless you are a essential worker (in that case you must provide a letter by your employer requesting accommodation). Local authorities are enforcing the current restrictions if you fail to prove your stay was necessary you must face a fine for £1,000 for breaching the rules. Also you must not meet anyone outside your household indoors until 17th of May. Again apologies. We must act together with local authorities to enforce the current Covid-19 restrictions.

Reception were friendly and welcoming, areas are being painted so trying to smarten it up, the room was small on 3rd floor (lots of stairs) clean but not spotless, fridge had mould in corners also a kettle, tea coffee etc but no drinking water luckily I took some with me. Comfortable bed however no mattress protector or pillow protectors therefore visible stains, bedding clean tear in duvet cover, towels clean but no plug in sink.

Stayed in this hotel for one night, rooms weren’t clean, the bathroom was very unhygienic, the shower trickled water out and the water was cold, no water provided for the kettle and the water from the tap was “not drinkable” so overall I would not rate this hotel.
