Stressful home stay experience
Stressful check in process - you require ID, £60 deposit payable only by cash and need to arrange your check in time in advance. I was told I could only check in after 7pm and when I did check in I had to fill in multiple forms.
When I was finally given a key and shown to my room I was told that there’s an alarm which is always on. It’s stressful to even think about leaving the place and when people do come in and out,there’s loud bleeps from the alarm downstairs - including several times in the night.
When I got to my room it was clean, had a fridge and tea coffee facilities but the major issue for me was that I’d Booked a double room and it only had a single bed. The room also had a really overpowering air freshner fragrance which gave me a headache.
I slept ok but the bed had a plastic sheet on it which made loads of noise every time I moved.
I didn’t use the kitchen facilities so can’t comment on those but everything was clean.
The check out process was also stressful. I had to arrange my check out time in advance and then had to have a room inspection by the owner before I could have my £60 deposit back. I also had to sign several forms again to confirm tha I’d left, given keys back and had my deposit back.
The major downfall of this place was that for anyone used to staying in a hotel, this is not a hotel - it is a house with high security and it’s not possible to easily come and go as you please without the owner checking up. Way too stressful.
