Unsafe, unclear, and unresponsive – avoid this hotel
My partner and I stayed at ARK Canary Wharf and it was one of the worst hotel stays we’ve had.
First, the listing did not clearly state that there was no air conditioning, which made the room unbearably hot during a heatwave. We felt misled, but stayed anyway because of their strict no refund policy.
Then, on our second night around 11:30pm, while we were asleep, a strange man tried to enter our room. Turns out the hotel had double-booked it, even though we had reserved it for four nights. We saw what looked like a manager calling reception to get access. When we opened the door to ask what was going on, they just apologized and quickly left — no explanation, no follow-up.
We were left wondering: if we’d gone out that night, would that man have been let into our room with all our belongings inside?
The next day, our room key stopped working. That was the last straw — we checked out a day early.
To make matters worse, we had put down a £100 holding deposit at check-in, which was fine — but nearly a week later, I had to call and argue with them just to get it refunded. Completely unprofessional.
We also contacted the hotel to request a refund for the night we didn’t stay, and of course, they never responded.
Between the lack of transparency, safety concerns, and poor management, this hotel is not worth the risk. I would strongly advise others to stay elsewhere.
