"We had a sea view room. Nice big walk in wardrobe . The bathroom was good although the shower was Luke warm. Big bed and nice to have extra seating looking out over the balcony for two people as well as a chair at the dressing table. A small table on the balcony would be beneficial but may not have been there as we visited in April and was lucky with the weather to be sunny enough to sit on the balcony. Staff all friendly, very efficient in the restaurant and for breakfast. The decor of the room and hotel is a bit outdated but this was what we expected from a hotel of this size and age. We enjoyed our stay and would visit again."

"What a lovely hotel! The view from my room was amazing. The room itself was stunning and had all the extra touches that make your stay memorable. If it had been warmer I would have sat on the welcoming balcony, looking out to sea. Lovely location and stunning hotel. "

"Our stay at Hampton by Hilton Torquay lived up to the brand’s reputation for consistency and in several areas, exceeded expectations. Parking was straightforward, with ample options both on-street and in a nearby multi-storey just a short walk away (under 200 yards), which made arrival and daily outings very easy. The hotel foyer was clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully laid out, with useful local information readily available. Our room was on the smaller side compared to typical U.S. standards, though that’s fairly typical across Europe. It was, however, well equipped, including a small fridge for drinks, and stocked with plenty of towels and toiletries. One thing to note: the mattress is very firm. Those who prefer a harder bed will likely appreciate it, but it wasn’t quite to our liking and resulted in some back discomfort during our stay. A more significant downside was the inability to open the bedroom window. This meant relying entirely on the air conditioning, which worked perfectly well but we would have preferred the option of fresh air. Breakfast was included in our rate and was a real positive. There was a good selection each morning, with both hot items and a solid continental offering, all fresh and well presented. The location is excellent within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants, local bus routes, and around 15 minutes on foot to two nearby rail stations. We stayed for six nights and would happily return."

"The owners were incredibly lovely and helpful, great for a chat over breakfast and any time we crossed paths. They had ideas and suggestions of where to go and what to do and very much gave a homely feeling to our stay. The breakfast was delicious. They made a full English breakfast both days to order whilst also having a selection of different cereals, fruits and pastries. They had tea, coffee and juice all available and were incredibly dedicated to making the stay as great as possible. The room was clean and well maintained and also had tea, coffee and a mini fridge with milk to ensure we had what we could want. The beds were very comfortable, curtains were blackout, radiator was on but we also had the windows open so could happily regulate the temperatures as we needed. Torquay city centre is only 10 minute walk away so there are a wealth of entertainment options nearby and the owners were full of recommendations if we wanted them. All in all it was an amazing place to stay and I highly recommend and will definitely be staying there again in the future."

"We stayed in a spacious family room with a beautiful sea view. The beds were comfortable and the linens were clean; we really liked the room's location. However, we had some issues with cleanliness—the carpet was dirty, and the bathtub drain was clogged, causing water to pool during showers. Also, the edges of the tub were not clean. On the positive side, the outdoor pool was open and heated, which our daughter really enjoyed. The pool area was well-decorated and maintained. The staff were helpful and polite. As for breakfast, it was quite ordinary with limited options, but they provided cheese once we asked for it. It met our expectations but wasn't anything spectacular."

"I was a little disappointed that the gym no longer exists. I went looking for the gym, passing through a rabbit warren of passages, until I saw a removable screen, I looked behind the screen, only to find small room full of broken equipment. Clearly it had been out of commission for a long while. "
