The room was clean and ok, however we were placed in an accessible room with a huge wheelchair accessible bathroom. This seriously cut down on the room left for the bedroom. Also the shower curtain finished about a foot above the ground so when someone used the shower there was water everywhere and you had to use a towel to mop up. Also just a wall basin which meant there was nowhere to put any of your toiletries except on the (wet) floor. The room lacked functionality in this way. Maybe a standard room would have been better though.

Definitely a 3 star hotel as facilities are basic, but the staff were lovely, it had everything we needed and was very convenient in terms of location and parking.

Hotel charged me $95 extra because there was burnt cattle . We did not use there cattle during our staying period at all. Looks like management just hungry for money . Provide only one big size & 2 very small towal ( size of kitchen towal) for 3 people . It’s was horrible experience.

It was also checked immediately after your departure, and unfortunately, we found damage to it.Additionally, i imagine having a smaller towel must have been traumatizing but, if you did not know, hotels offer a variety of towel sizes to cater to different needs. Our largest towels are designed for the body, while smaller ones are designated for the feet, and we provide separate towels for the face and hands. If you ever require a different size or have specific preferences, please don't hesitate to let us know during your stay.After you checked out, you kindly expressed your gratitude for your stay and proceeded with your travel plans. We had to stay here because there were no other options- but the place is really gross- the rooms are totally nasty and run down. The beds are awful. Dont stay here unless you're desperate.

The view from the room is great but cannot be enjoyed due to “balcony is actually a public walkway between all the units, plus there is no table or desk in the room but two chairs The beds are so uncomfortable to sit or sleep on, we both had back pain after the stay The toilet cistern keeps leaking water into the pan causing noise and not good flushing for next use, the shower is a nightmare to get the temperature right Overall it was a disappointment, Will not stay again or to recommend to anyone

Perfect location for walking to restaurants and attractions. We had a ground floor lake view room with a picnic table out the front and nice views of Lake Tekapo. I think the view from the upper level rooms would be block by the solid railings. Older style rooms, but comfortable and clean. Would happily stay here again.

Hotel is very dated. Not worth the price per night. The only good thing about this hotel, is the view. Which you can visit without staying in the hotel. Hopefully this can be replaced with a nicer hotel or there is local competition in the future to improve this hotel.

It was a pretty dated property and being on bottom floor you could hear people upstairs all night and being right near the stairs didn’t help either.

Good stopover
The room and facilities were fine at the Godley although, unusually for NZ there was no microwave or any basic dining facility in the room which was a shame. Views over lake Tekapo were fantastic.

The property should be rebranded as a Motel from a hotel. Tired would describe this property it at best. Sagging squeaking mattress and a barely working shower. The view of beautiful lake Tekapo from our room compensated the Motel’s lack. Would look for another place next time for sure

Nice hotel but needs just a little TLC. Shower head is weak, fridge was loud. Paper thin walls. Would still stay here again. Wonderful view of the lake.

The Godley Hotel is a very nice place to stay. We only stayed one night but it was great. Check in and out was easy. Parking right in front and plenty more out the side and back. You can easily walk to The Church of the Good Shepherd and dog statue via the connecting bridge. Beautiful views of Lake Tekapo. There is no lift though and there stairs that you will have to carry your own luggage up to. We were on the first floor so only one flight of stairs for us. Easy walk to dining options.

It was just a small room. Not sure what’s the difference is between a room and our Superior Room. The on-site restaurant was under renovation and I hope it was mentioned on their website. Or maybe it will as and we missed it! Conveyed my feedback to the reception and it was well taken. Helpful staff and ample parking. Walkable to the Lake, Church and restaurants.

Great view and location…but very noisey.
This hotel had an amazing view but unfortunately it was incredibly noisey. I could hear the occupants of both rooms on either side and also the room above. It needs a bit of a refurb and the black mould on the bathroom ceiling is not a good look….

A great place located central Tekapo, meet all our requirements. warm & comfortable, nice view of mountains and Lake Tekapo. Parking was a small issue, would be good to have allocated room parking spot. Rooms Could do with some refurbishment esp bathroom where paint has cracked and lifting on the ceiling, grout around basin could be replaced otherwise all good.

Our rooms were right by the stairs which are metal. a noisy group of Chinese people on tour arrived at 9pm and continued to bang up and down the stairs and talk loudly for an hour... very loudly. right outside or on the stairs and on the upstairs corridor. Then at an early hour in the morning they were up again and it was a repeat of suitcases rolling along and up and down the stairs. We also had booked for breakfast and paid for it but on arrival we were told the restaurant was closed for alterations. No one from the hotel had contacted us to advise this prior to arriving. one of the reasons we booked was to get a hotel breakfast before we got on the road to Queenstown. While we were refunded - most of the cafes along the road were closed that morning and there was a huge queue at the one that was open.

Cute, sleepy lakefront hotel
This was a cozy, motel style venue. It had one of the nicest bathrooms that we had on our full stay in New Zealand. It is in a small remote area of the country so a couple things for US-based travelers to be mindful of: the front desk people may be on a break occasionally, but generally will come back within 15 minutes. There won’t be somebody at the front desk in the late evenings, but I believe there’s a phone number you can call to still be in touch with them. There also is a door on the side of the hotel that remains unlocked throughout the night for people to come and go into the hotel, while the front door is locked. We felt perfectly safe at this location and it is super convenient to all of the restaurants and shops in the area as well as the local landscape sites. We would stay here again.
