"Our stay here was surprisingly enjoyable. Despite the rave reviews online, our first impression of the hotel was not stellar. It looked quite dated, the room was a bit dark and tiny, the mattress a bit stained etc. However, once we got settled in, discovered the facilities, including the rooftop outdoor onsen, free ramen, ice cream etc. we actually thought it was a very cozy and well-located place to stay for our stay in Matsumoto. "Hotel Metropolitan Nagano is directly connected from Nagano Station which is a gateway to lots of sightseeing spots. Service was impeccable, breakfast abundant and scrumptious, location so central to shopping and dining. The only thing I wish this hotel would have is a spa with public bath/sauna. With cold winter in Nagano, hot bath would make the stay perfect. Otherwise, I enjoyed everything about my stay at this hotel. "
